Candle company glowing - Winnipeg Free Press

I am happy today because my son is going to this place in Winnipeg every Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. for a job experience!

When he is not at the Soy Harvest Candle place he also has a job practicum at Atlas Graham - a company that makes cleaning supplies.

He works there on Tuesdays and Fridays from 8:30 until 2:30.

Last year at this time he was unemployed and his job facilitators/social workers noticed such a great improvement in his attitude and general demeanor the last time we were there for an interview.

What a difference having a reason to get out of the house and do something productive makes for a person's sense of worth and well being!
:grinning:

Aw, that is so great!! :) Good luck to your son on his job experience!

Thanks! He is working with a group that is much like himself - sort of "cognitively challenged" I guess you could call it.

He is special needs but quite high functioning. His workers wanted to move him into the regular part of the company but he has made friends there and fits in well, so for now he wants to stay with just part time.

I was quite surprised at the last meeting to hear him say he 'loved it' there! :)

Cool! I wish I had some.

I am happy today because Epson is a good company. I ordered some printer cartridges online. At checkout I noticed a blank field for a discount code. I didn't have a code, but thought maybe I should check my email for one from Epson, which they sometimes send me, then thought nah I'll just order them. Then later I went to check my email and sure enough Epson had sent me a discount code which would have applied - 15% off! After biting myself I decided to contact them to see if I could somehow use the discount on the purchase and the lady is going to credit my card 15%! It never hurts to try!

I am happy today because I am going to lunch with girlfriends for my birthday! AND, I have made great progress in my cabinet staining, my house painting, my architectural door upgrade project and my spring cleaning!

When spring gets here, I can walk out the door and get my yard and garden going and I can repaint the trim on my house!

As a couple of you know, I am making an exploitation/crime/comedy/teen drama feature length film. Its coming along nicely. By which I mean, excellently. Hence, me posting here. I've gotten about one-fifth of the way through the script (about 14 pages), I've gotten the entire film planned out in my head (including dialogue and musical cues in some cases), and I've begun casting. The icing on the cake, my musician friends are gonna write some of the score (they primarily do acoustic stuff, one of them is like Leadbelly reincarnated), and release an OST. On itunes. They have an amateur record label, and they pay for a service allowing them to put music on itunes.

I hope it doesn't fail.

Woot ! Happy, happy, happy. I have reached the halfway (or thereabouts) milestone (40 pages in this case). The soundtrack is coming along nicely, and a tentative track listing has been created, and I've heard demos of several of the songs.

I am happy because hubby and his work partner are being moved to a straight day rotation! No more night shifts!!!!

Some of the details still need ironed out, but overall he sounds pleased with the move. No more 7 day off weeks every 28 days, but both time on and off remains the same, just a little more broken up. So our trips home to visit my family or camping trips or what have you will need to be reworked a little bit, not having that 7 off week, but hopefully it will be easy enough to adjust to.

So, all in all, sounds like good news. No more stinking night shifts! Whoo-hoo!! ;-D
