I'm happy for a few reasons.

We ordered cordless phones from Best Buy and they were taking forever to ship them. Until they actually get shipped we could cancel the order at no cost. Today. I found the exact same phone at Staples, $10 cheaper AND we had a $10 gift card for Staples. We were able to order on-line and pick them up today.

I'm also happy because, my granddaughter LOVES Where the Wild Things Are. Toys are ridiculously priced, and the only patterns I could find are crochet, which I cannot do. Today I found a really simple pattern to make monsters. It won't matter that they look different then the book.

I also found a pattern to make a broom out of paper towel rolls. This will come in handy because grandson likes to March with a broom like "the scary scene" in Bednobs and Broomsticks. I figure I'd best make two.

And I have a few weeks to get these all made.

What kind or brand do you or others recommend? We need some and my big reason for not ordering anything I need is whatever I do will be wrong. (Either another brand is better or can be found somewhere else for less.) I will spend 87 hours researching what should be a 10-minute order. But congratulations on your achievement there.

The set we are are replacing are AT&T. They were great and are probably over 10 years old. They are still working, but no longer holding a charge as long. Because of the type of batteries, we figured we might as well just buy new phones.

The new set is Panasonic. That's what we had before the AT&T. We had to replace it because it got out in the sink which was full of water. (I remember who did it...but not why. Probably an accident.) prior to it's swim, we had no problems with it.

Both our current set and the one we are replacing come with an answering machine and four handsets.

Thanks. I am so happy every time I get something reasonably priced that works well. Much can be said for having more choices but it sometimes leads to more stress, too.

I agree.

I still prefer shopping in a brick and mortar store. But for this purchase we found there was not a good selection in the stores in our area. And the brand they seemed to be pushing in store...nit sure why but we weren't comfortable with. (The stores all seemed to be pushing V-Tech.)

AnnaMarie - please ck your profile page. I may have found some cross stitch patterns for you.

Heard this song for the first time today. Had to laugh because with very little change it could have been my theme song for the past several days, if amended to sleeping, eating, reading, and watching TV, and that's REALLY all I want to do! Up to a point, when I had a guy here working, I kind of enjoyed telling him what needed to be done and doing what parts I could, but the last day he was here I didn't even want to talk about what came next let alone do it.

To tell the truth, I started this project of putting a plant shelf in the kitchen window more years ago than I care to admit. I had a guy cut decorative railings for it after my cat Captain (who died five years ago) stretched out on the shelf, knocking a plant to the floor and smashing a flowerpot I'd had since college which I had to glue back together. At that point I tied the front railing in place and never did finish the thing...the main reason being I made two or three attempts to clean about six layers of paint off the window and paint it to look nice, and never was happy with how it came out. I was seriously considering giving it one more try before moving to other jobs, but after breaking my leg I realized I couldn't, so hired this guy. Am now still not satisfied but am happy that he did as well or better than I could have in less time with less anguish.

So today I had to sand and retouch around the window, and repaint the whole shelf now that he assembled and attached the railing. I was able to sit for the lower part of the window job, but stood for the whole shelf job with the radio on. Had good reception and played a lot of good music, the above song being one. I must have worked around three and a half hours, most of it standing, without a problem, by far the longest I've spent on foot since being injured! I was amazed and relieved it went so well! So maybe tomorrow I'll have a different theme song!

I am happy today because this morning's IEP meeting went well (for those of you lucky enough to not know what that is, it's a meeting to discuss a special needs student's educational situation).
We have been extremely fortunate to have great team members (teachers, therapists, psychologists, etc) who always seem to be thinking along the same lines as we are and who truly do seem to have our son's best interest at heart.
I know that's a rare blessing and I'm grateful.

Also, I'm going to the library today!!!

80sFan so glad the meeting went well.

I don't get meetings anymore. But it's OK because the reason is, all the hard work put in for the last 10 years is paying off. He's in a much better place. I keep his IEP in place because it's there if he needs it.

There is a process in place if he needs extra exam or assignment time. He is the one who has to initiate it, and it must be done in advance. There are other things he can access as well, but he hasn't needed to very often. (At my son's age, him taking control is the way it should be. Maybe not all kids in kid-late teens is able...but he is.)

That's great, AnnaMarie! It's always encouraging to hear other kids making such progress :)
I hope my son is also able to get to that point in the near future.

Accomplished a miracle! Moved all the plants out of the living room where they've sat since end of October/beginning of November, into the kitchen where I can attempt to salvage those still alive. Got the carpet clean, and the real miraculous part was me and the guy helping cleared a space for another guy to come in and build some shelves in another room without having to stack anything from that room in the living room! We should at least receive an award for such a feat of engineering.

Grats. The difference for me in getting things done is if I have a little help. I think it's mostly the moral support provided.
