My loved ones appreciate this story and I hope some of you do too. If there is any place to share this, it's here! :cheerful:
So my dream finally came true last Saturday night. I met the man, the myth, the legend. The Ghost Brothers tour kicked off at the University of Maine campus in Orono on Nov 8th. They had a reception/dinner beforehand. Our beloved writer, Moderator, and some family were there. I walked, I stalked, I met! I could barely hold myself together when he walked in yet somehow managed not to go completely batty(on the outside anyway). The first person I approached was Madame Marsha. Yep, she is pretty much the cutest little thing ever and contrary to her iron fist ruling on these boards(;)) one of the sweetest. If you're reading this Ms. Mod it was a pleasure to meet you and I apologize for my semi rambling. It was part nerves, part trying to hurry so you could sit down and eat dinner. I wish we had longer to chat but I'll take what I can get. Thank you.
After my encounter with the Madame there he was.....at the other end of the table. My friend gave me the courage to go up to him by saying it might be my last chance because dinner was about to start so I did it. I walked up and said that I had been waiting a long time for this, shook hands, asked how he thought the Red Sox were going to do in 2015, he talked about it for a small bit, I asked him for a picture which he graciously obliged and that was it. I promptly changed my Facebook profile picture to it and it's the most likes and comments I've ever gotten! lol.Of course you always think of things you wish you had said after the fact(wanted to thank him for bringing the WS trophies to Bangor and tell him that myself, my dad, and stepmom ended up on the front of the Bangor Daily News posing with said trophies)but when you're caught up in the moment and nervous as all get out that's the way it goes. It went great.
Then yesterday my friend and I got in line at 3:30am in Portland for next weeks signing, we were about 80-100 people back and we got our tickets and books! Can't wait to see him next Monday.
A little taste of yesterdays line.....yeah, I'm briefly in the shot. A couple of people were there at 10am Monday morning and camped out!

Thanks for reading and letting me share this with you guys!

It was a pleasure meeting you and I'm so glad you approached as I never would have found you in the crowd. Hope you enjoyed the show and very glad you got a ticket for the Portland event! We're practically neighbors so maybe we'll have another chance to meet and talk longer--no need to be nervous.

Everyone got a book? Now that is cool. No doubt he is a generous man.

Probably good I didn’t go. I think Ms Mod would have made sure that the book I received at my assigned seat was ticking. :)
Yup 300 (unsigned) copies, all mixed titles of older books, were donated--plus 5 signed copies of Revival even though it was before pub date. The signed copies were being used as a silent auction fundraiser for the Collins Center. I keep telling you I'm a pacifist--no ticking seats. Now replacing the seat cushion with a whoopee cushion, that might have been a possibility. ;)

I bet mixed titles of older books sure had the room buzzing and lots of comparing titles. Hope the Collins Center raised a bunch. Dang... I may have to put "Visit Maine" back on my bucket list, whoopee cushion and all. :)

you know what they should've done? That very last person in line? They should've done something cool to make them the big winner! Free book, t shirt, meet Stephen -- Just a grab of someone who has NO CHANCE of getting in.

I agree 100%. I was very fortunate to meet Marsha in Atlanta at the GBDL premiere. I was in serious pain due to my hip arthritis, plus I was unusually anxious due to meeting her (I needn't have been) as well as thinking there was a possibility of meeting sK, and so couldn't manage being as sociable as I am usually capable. Marsha's a true sweetheart, and I look forward to visiting with her again one day. In the kitchen, I hope.

ps: Marsha is not a "Madame". Those were just ladies wanting to be seen with her.

Funny. I usually hear that noise even without the whoopee cushion. ;;D

Just kidding, Dio. ;)

Peace.

(Ha! Looks like Blunt and I had the same idea.)
