Loving the responses, you guys have me super excited to continue. I'm stopping to read a couple more of his other novels before I begin Drawing of the Three, but I'll be sure to make another post once I'm there!
Yeah, good luck with that. I would say going from book 2 to 3, and 4 to 5 will test your resolve. Book 3 - wasteland - ends with a cliffhanger but I didn't like that book so that's when I took my 1st break to read a different novel.

I wish I still had dark tower books to read 1st time, it's so easy to get drawn in to that world.

As a latecomer to the DT series, I was lucky enough ti devour them all in one ferocious go. A wait would have driven me nuts. Don't wait be greedy!

My buddy and I are re-reading for our podcast (see below). This will be his fourth time through. I read the first three books over 25 years ago and didn't really get them, so I'm coming at them like new. Looking forward to the journey.

Sorry but we only allow the links in the Self-promotion area so have deleted them here.

Hey you are one lucky leprechaun- when I started reading there were still four books waiting to be translated by sai king, not counting keyhole. They’re all in print now.

Welcome to the Tower. Just put your life on hold and do nothing but read. It's quite a journey. For me The Gunslinger was the hardest to get into. As a matter of fact, I bought it in 1987 (88?) and never could read it. Left it in a previous life. Picked it up again in 2013 and couldn't get through the series fast enough.
i just finished the gunslinger and am new to the series myself. It was soooo hard for me to get thru this first book! is the second and so on better than the first?

Many have had difficulties with the Gunslinger, I do suggest you continue the journey. Each book will draw you closer to the characters, the story and the adventures to come. This journey can be life changing. Enjoy!!

The first book is not like anything King had written, either in style or subject. The text is sparse and dry (like a desert!). I actually love the first book. The rest of the books are written more in Steve's style, or 'voice', and are a quicker read than the first one. Stay on the journey, continue with the next book and decide if you like it or not and if so, read the rest of the books. I don't think you'll be disappointed. ;-D
