I love learning new things. I've always been inquisitive since I was a little girl.

Everyday, I look for the new thing(s) to learn about. Here is one new thing I learned today.

This is a Bee skep. I've seen these, I knew they were for bees, but I just called them bee hives.

I learned earlier this week, that F. Scott Fitzgerald's full name is Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald. A customer asked me what the "F" stood for in his name, I resisted the urge to make something rude up and told her I didn't know so we wiki-ed it. It turned out, not only did old Frank have an amusing name, he was really a rather interesting fellow with an equally interesting family history.

I really enjoyed The Great Gatsby, but I don't think I've read anything else by him, not sure about that. I will read that link, thanks!

For anyone interested in Fitzgerald, A Moveable Feast by Hemingway is well worth a read. He shares a car journey up through France with Fitzgerald rescuing his car which he and Zelda had abandoned there. Fitzgerald is boozing, slightly made and hypchodriacal, and although Hemingway obviously admires his huge talent you can hear how ****** off with him Hem is getting. It's a very funny passage especially for Hem who is not the first person that sprongs to my mind when I think of humourous writers.

Pennsylvania Game Commission Advises Motorists to Watch For Deer
HARRISBURG, Pa., Sept. 8 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Pennsylvania Game Commission Executive Director Carl G. Roe today advised motorists to slow down after sundown and before sunrise to reduce their risk of having a close encounter with a white-tailed deer.

Deer collisions are an annual occurrence that will continue through Thanksgiving week and begin to slow down in mid-December. For the sake of public safety, the Game Commission is urging motorists to drive cautiously after dark for the next several months.

Well duh... That’s like telling people here to put gas in your car before the gauge reaches empty.
