Anyone heard anything from Lily Sawyer about the wedding?

1. October is the month.
2. My friend Tom, whom I've known since 8th grade, is the officiant.
3. The entourage includes men and women, because it takes a village when people marry.
4. Parents met last month for the first time.
5. Vows are being written.
6. Another high school friend will do the artwork for the Save-the-Date and calligraphy for the invitations.
7. The venue has been nailed down.
8. I heard Publix, a grocery store chain mainly in the U.S. southeast, makes great wedding cakes. I also learned that they will send you home with, well, three whole cakes for your tasting. There was so much left over we gave the rest to a friend with teen-aged sons. Cake tastings are still underway.
9. He wants a purple velvet groom's cake. (!)
10. First dance song has been chosen.
11. Rehearsal dinner will include nods to his South Carolina roots: pickled shrimp, cayenne cheese wafers, benne seed cookies.
12. Colors are: cream, pine, sage, plum, cranberry, aubergine, pale pink, and thistle blue-purple.
13. Entourage has been chosen and dear ones will arrive from Minnesota, Utah, California, North Carolina, Illinois, South Carolina, Washington D.C., England, Bulgaria, and Sweden.
14. If for any reason his best man can't make it, Sundrop has agreed to step in and take over. (Not kidding on this one, boys and girls.)
15. I am seriously considering wearing a hat.
16. One of my theater & mime teachers from high school is the technical director.
17. I am going to have the world's most adorable flower girl. Lilia Claire will be two when we marry.
18. I can't wait. *swoon*

The thing is, I've had some ideas about stuff, but some of them have been replaced with something completely different.

The invitation is a good example of that: I'm open to something a bit more outside-the-box, but Beaufort likes more classic and traditional. It's perfectly fine, but I wouldn't have known this unless I'd shown him some invitation samples that I'd privately thought were the only ones I'd consider.

Guess what? The invitation looks nothing like any of the samples either of us okayed.
Interesting.

...of all the words to describe you walking down the aisle, that one never came to mind...your beauty will probably ignite the unity candle without need for a light...
It'll take some extra elbow grease in any event, so perhaps from your post to God's eyes.
I just want to look appropriate. It's hard to find something that doesn't look like it's for a twentysomething airhead.

See, I'm going for the fiftysomething airhead look!
