There's definitely some bias here, as I'm a trans gal who REALLY wants to see someone like myself represented in media I enjoy, especially by my favorite author, but I think the themes could be used really well by King. Being trans can lead into such themes as a lost childhood, a wrong body, wrong perception by society and/or being shunned, and all of these things could probably be put together for a great story that is, in effect, an extension of the protagonist's feelings and who they are.

Plus, I just really wanna see a story by him about someone like me.

Anyways, what do y'all think?

My apologies if you'd have preferred I upload this in "Politics", I figured it made more sense here because it relates to King's writings and I don't really consider my existence to be a political statement I guess.

...hey girl....I don't know if you've heard of Steampowered Giraffe, but the brother of the leader singer Michael Bennett, "Bunny" Bennett did a long Blog series on YouTube when he started his change process and I think it was wonderfully well handled and quite informative....plus their music is pretty cool...

I may be misremembering, but it seems to me, some gay people have not been happy with how gay people have been portrayed in King books. I suspect a book about a trans person, written by someone who is not trans, would probably not be an accurate portrayal.

However, I would love to see a book of the quality King writes that has a major character who happens to be trans. Not necessarily the book is "about a trans person", but rather it is about a person, and the person happens to be trans. (Like people I know and care about. It's just one of the things about them. It's not who they are.)

Drawing on what they know and have experienced is what writers do best. That moment when you can smell the colours and taste the music is pure remembrance.
The only way SK could get a character he he hasn't lived, or lived with, right is by collaboration.

Yee that makes sense- I think I realized that what I mean is I want a King-like book with a trans protag. Maybe I'll actually start working on that!
