Anyone ever been? I went on a whim a couple of years ago and had a blast. It's probably the wrong time of year to recommend it, but I'm surprised more people don't go there. It's like something out of a Nordic fairy tale and the sun doesn't go down in summer. You can stand on the streets and drink all night (or whatever you call it when it doesn't get dark). It's not very crowded even in Reykjavik. The geothermal mineral pools are fun. Once you are outside the city, you hardly see a soul. And they have a famous author - Arnaldur Indridason - who writes a great series of mystery books.

Given that I'm not the biggest fan of cold or snow, I never gave a second thought to the Nordic countries for years. Now, though, I find myself fascinated with them. Iceland is one I know almost nothing about, so thanks for sparking my interest--now I'll do a little research & start another daydream trip :)

My daughter’s flying Icelandic Air when she goes to Germany as an exchange student this year. They will have layovers in Iceland both trips. We don’t know the details yet, but she’s hoping she has some time while in Iceland to take in few of the sights.

I have never been to Iceland even if it's a Nordic Country as Finland. I would love to go there someday and maybe try to
ride a Icelandic horse. I've ride that horse many times but never on Iceland and there is probably wonderful to be. When I
studied in the vocational school we had a student from Iceland and was interesting to hear her speak Icelandic, she also told us a lot
about her country and showed pictures. That was a Wow experience for us other students.

I think Icelandic Air allows a stopover in Iceland if you are flying to Europe. I can't recommend it highly enough and can't imagine why more people don't go there. The people are nice, the scenary fantastic, the geothermal pools (the locker rooms are a bit odd unless you are used to hanging out with hundreds of nude strangers), the beer, the volcanoes. Only a few hours from the east coast of the US.
