I'd like to apologise to the lady I was a bit 'uppity' at.

About 4 days ago I said something that I thought was funny but wasn't unless you had 12 beers. I'm not here to be a defender of Mr King. But I have said once that I can get cranky if someone-if I think they're having a go-might criticise Mr King. In psychology it's called 'projecting' your'e own insecurities onto others. That's why people drink. I'm sorry, I'm trying to be a better person every day, but it's hard, when you have inherited the alcoholic 'gene' off your father.

If it is me you're apologising to, apology accepted. You have mentioned to me before now that you're struggling with this, so I did understand what might be happening a few days ago.

I really do hope you're able to get some help, because it is such an awful cross to bear and I don't like to see anyone suffering.

I've had a relapse. I went 2 months without a drink and now I can feel it every day. When I was not drinking I was writing. 'Replace a habit with a habit' they say. Easy too say.

Do you have access to a good AA program?

(Side note... do you like rugby? I'm just about to watch the game between us and you guys... please don't tell me the score, I'm on delayed coverage. :biggrin2:)
Australia: 52 New Zealand:0. The Roosters also won. Australia has won the Bledisloe Cup for the last 100 years. New Zealand can't play Rugby Union, they're hopeless. I don't need to go to AA, I not too bad. I don't wake up and the first thing I do is reach for a bottle. My drinking runs in cycles. I have the ability to clamp down on it if I want to.

First, I apologise for my AA comment, it was perhaps rude of me to make that assumption.

Second re: the rugby...
Half time: NZ 9 - Aussie 3

Excuse me for asking FlakeNoir, but are you a New Zealander by any chance?
Yar, Kiwi here.

You may be referred to what the drinkers call a periodic. Had a great uncle who would go up to Albany once a year and get stinking drunk; he didn't touch the stuff any other time. My grandfather, his brother, who drank religiously EVERY day would have to sober up and take the train to Albany get his brother and bring him home; this happend EVERY year until they died.

...all the best with the struggle, and thanks for the apology...I was a bit harsh, not being aware of your cross to bear...

It takes guts to post an apology, doesn't it? I know.

I learned a long time ago that it's best to stay off the web when I've had a snoot-full or when I'm angry.

I have the alcoholic gene too. It doesn't have me, though.
