Actually Idaho is one of the world's largest producers of Hops, sugar beets and onion seeds. Top five in all categories. The Germans, Dutch and Czechs come here to buy our Hops for their beers. Same is true for the Canadians and many of the American brewers. I know hops, sugar beets and onion seeds aren't real sexy like say oil, copper, steel, electronics, airplanes, oranges, pineapples or coffee, but they're ours.

One more. Actually ,now that I' really looking at it, the all black SUV looks pretty good in all the white stuff. Black & White. Classic color scheme. No 58 isn't my unit. I drive 57, but it looks remarkably similar to 58.

Here in Spokane (it's pronounced SPO-KAN) we received about 3 more inches last night and it is currently snowing again. Supposed to add another 2 -3 inches today with more coming in tomorrow. I love watching it come down and seeing it turn everything a pure and pretty white but I don't like having to drive to work in it. Now, just going out and driving around in it is great fun!!!! Just not to work....;-D

We are south of Spokane, which is above the frost line--frozen tundra of the north--but still receiving plenty of snow! My sister is in the Boise area and said the Starbuck's was closed so you KNOW it is serious!

  1. The last couple of weeks have been one storm after another (La Nina has been in full force this year) and I'm tired (snow removal at my house and at the department, getting folks out of the snow, walking through the snow, driving through the snow, standing outside in the snow for long periods of time etc.), but it's made for some beautiful scenery. Three nights ago we dropped to -16 degrees. I stayed in my patrol SUV (Ford Explorer) as much as possible that night. However working nights in this type of weather did remind me of "Storm of the Century", "One for the Road" and "The Shining". On the plus side we won't have to worry about a drought this year and I've gotten one heck of a workout.

The picture rightmost is really beautiful with the mountains.

Yep that's Boise. The photo was taken from the train station at the top of the hill looking down towards downtown Boise and the capitol building. Just to the right of the photo (and you can't see it as a result) is Boise State University - my alma mater (Class 1990).
