Bummed today because kiddo had such a meltdown* this morning, I couldn't even put him on his bus.

* meltdown does not equal temper tantrum. Meltdown takes on a whole different personality. His pupils dilate, he exhibits super human strength (he is tiny, but it takes at least 2 adults to restrain him during a meltdown) and there is nothing that can stop it until he does. The worst part is you never know how long it will last.
This one lasted 92 minutes.

Now playing quietly in his room like nothing even hapened, but that isn't a guarantee that there won't be more.
I just keep praying.

The way you handle and cope at times like this is just bloody amazing. You are a great Mom. Pat yourself on the back, I know I
would do it for you if I were there. One step at a time...

80sFan just saw your post now. Sorry you and your little one went through that. Hope it's been smooth sailing since.

I'm bummed about something much more trivial.

I just bought the third book in the Bill Hodges trilogy. I hunted and found the first book. But book two is missing. I was sure I had loaned it to my sister, but she says no, she bought it herself. Now, I know she would not lie. If she says she bought it, she truly believes she bought it. And she loans me so many books even if she's wrong, I just can't really be upset or angry with her.

But I want to read all three, and I don't have the middle one. It is ironic though isn't it. I have lost Finders Keepers.

Had to rush my mom to the ER the day before Mother's Day and she spent the rest of Saturday and most of Sunday in the hospital. The older of my two sisters could not be there, but the younger one was, and is now suffering flashbacks or something because the hospital brought back traumas from fifty years ago involving Mom. Tomorrow we have physical therapy and a doctor's appointment. Have so much I want to do but don't want to settle too much into anything because all hell keeps breaking loose. Also Mom has cataract surgery in a little over a week and right after that I have to attend my best friend's mother's memorial service. Stressed!

I need you guys to all put your heads together and see if the name Brian Fairchild means anything to you.

The best way to grill corn is to pull down the husks, slather it with butter, pull the husks back up to cover the ear and place them on the grill. Leaving the husks on seals in the moisture!!
I second this. But I soak them in salt water for about 10 minutes after removing the silks. After pulling the husks back up I wrap them in aluminum foil which helps to keep the moisture in even more. Best corn-on-the-cob ever. And I've parked my gas grill in the corner and have gone completely charcoal grilling. But I use Cowboy Hardwood Lump Charcoal instead of those charcoal briquettes. It provides a much better taste to the food IMO.

If you ever want quickie corn on the cob, leave the husks on and put them in the microwave for about 5 minutes. Of course, this is not going to compare to your grill method but for quick corn on the cob, it works very well. Watch your fingers, trying to get the husks off after they come out of the microwave. Ouch!;-D

Thanks. Will have to try this on a rainy day.

If you ever need an instant cold beer and none are in the fridge.
I did the trick with the dust spray the other week and it worked pretty well.

The dust spray looks like a good method. The drill looks like too much work but the video did give me an idea. I may get a socket that fits a beer bottle and keep a drill with the socket close by to open my beer with. ;-D
