Posting this here and also in the Cantina......

Last night, I had the second interview with the owner of the salon I really liked. I still love the place. The owner is really young, but she's smart and she is organized and knows how to manage a business.
We sat down and talked about everything.....she told me that she had talked extensively with one of the stylists there who knows me, and she would love to have me there. She thinks I will be very happy working there. My booth can be ready by the first week in December.

Biggest major concern.....the rent is on the pricey side at $150 per week.

Major Pros.....there is significant opportunity for growth and gaining new clients, and she's willing to let me start out on commission if I'm not comfortable with the rent right away, she's extremely understanding of my situation with needing scheduling flexibility, and having my daughter there after school on later work nights is not a problem.......and major plus.....there is zero drama in this salon. When issues come up, the people involved sit down and talk about it like adults and solve the problem together. I've talked to two of the stylists who work there, and they both tell me the same thing.....zero drama. It has to be a great place, because no one ever seems to leave the salon to seek employment elsewhere.

I told her that I need some time to think about it, and crunch the numbers around in my head. She asked me to take a week or so, and to please call her with any other questions or concerns that I might come up with. She also encouraged me to contact any of the stylists and ask them anything.

So now, the sleepless nights begin......I have a huge decision to make. I'm leaning toward making the move.
The name of the salon is Changes.....I'm thinking that a change just might do me good.

When you say "making the move" do you mean you'd have to literally move from where you are living? Otherwise, it sounds pretty good to me because you're as positive, rent issue notwithstanding, as you are. It sounds to me as if you've found an above average professional to work for. Personally, so far I'm kind of leaning for you to say "yes", though I wish not to interfere with the process, not to mention your sleepless nights.

One thing: Did you mention Johnny, and if so what was her reaction?

I wouldn't be moving from my home....I would only be moving my work location from one salon to another. Sorry about the confusion.
I really think this would be a positive change for me. I'm trying to seriously consider all the pros and cons. The weekly rent is only $28 more than I pay now, and if I only get two new clients per week, that will more than cover it. I'm trying not to look at it through my perpetually rose colored glasses, though.....I know and realize that in this business, there are going to be some slow times. However, the new salon does have the potential for growing a client base.....my current salon has become stagnant as far as gaining new clients.
My heart wants to move......my pocketbook needs to grow..... I'm seriously leaning toward taking the leap of faith and accepting the offer.

Oddly enough, Johnny didn't come up.
