The BBC news show on PBS has been running quite a few stories on the crisis in Venezuela where a large number of people are starving. One thing that I have not seen in any of the stories is any kind of humanitarian aid going to the country. Is Venezuela keeping aid out? The BBC stories tell of the government's media lock down about the crisis but I have not seen anything about the Red Cross or any other aid organization. Has anyone heard if there is any relief operations?

I found and answer to this question and it's hard to understand.

I'm watching this story unfold and I have to wonder....why is Congress so shocked that this happened? Their approval rating is in the flippin' TOILET; it's amazing this hasn't happened before! Maybe one or two of them will wise up. Not likely, but we can all dream, right?
They already believe they are above the law, why this horror that someone (albeit a whack-job) would take shots at them? I guess I just have a hard time seeing career politicians play the victim.
This story is also further proof that gun control doesn't work.

Huh? On what planet? I mean, yeah, kids might lick them because of the colors but that's on the adults for not storing them correctly. But an adult has gotta be really high to try to eat one. :Z:

Yes, ma'am. The article states 6 adults with cognitive impairments.

Advocates are urging manufacturers to redesign the packets so they look less like candies. The American Cleaning Institute has been asking laundry pod companies to include childproof latches on packages, sell the detergent in opaque pods, and use a bitter coat on the outside of the pod to discourage anyone from putting it in their mouth.

More children harmed by eating laundry pods, new report finds - TODAY.com

The harms to children from laundry pod ingestion included:

  • 17 cases of coma
