So Mom has just dropped me off on my first day at the SKMB, and after a tearful farewell I must now man up and introduce myself (apparently). :)

So, hello!

A question, though; after this initial introductory thread will I be able to comment on a message board? Or does the moderation period of 150 posts apply to new threads and/or comments on other discussion threads and posts before being able to comment on the message boards? I realize that immediately after posting this, the answer will become evident anyway... But hey, what are first days for if not for potentially stupid questions, right?

Welcome to the Board!

You can post your comments in existing ones or start new threads but they won't go live until they've been approved by a Moderator so you won't immediately see them. We've just recently dropped the requirement from 150 posts to 100 so you won't have quite as many to do before becoming unmoderated.

I'd say there are no stupid questions but that would be a lie. ;-D The ones you've asked aren't in that category, though. If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask--there are plenty of people here willing and able to help you out.

Thank you for the awesome welcome, and for the suggestions!

One more question before heading into the woods:
How long would a comment or thread from a newbie normally stay invisible before being moderated, and what potential no-noes should I avoid that would such to not be approved? I'm sure there are heaps to be moderated all the time, so I promise I'm not asking out of impatience, just curiosity! :) Also, if I've missed an obvious FAQ thread that answers all this, I apologize!

It really depends on whether there is a moderator on duty as the Board is not covered 24/7. This isn't my only duty as Stephen's personal assistant so even though I may be on duty, I could be busy with others things which would delay the approval time but generally it can be anywhere from no more than a minute to an hour.

...generally, she's kept occupied when not Mother Modding-coming up with ways to keep me from Unca Steve's kitchen...

I am at a loss for words! An especial thank you to you then for still making time to welcome and aid even us newbies! It's a rarity and much appreciated.

I promise not to get up to any mischief. Time to explore!
