I am an aspiring author from a small town in Maine. I've heard of Stephen King practically since I was in the sixth grade, but never really got to know his work until late into my sophomore year-early junior year of high school. That was when my aspirations as a writer began. However, I've had problems with frequent writers blocks (and I'm guilty to admit I still do) and I asked my English teacher at the time for some advice. He turned me to Stephen King's "On Writing". I ended up borrowing it and I found it quite useful and eventually bought my own copy. The first movie that I saw from King's work was "Stand By Me." I had no idea at the time that the story originated from him though. Since then I've watched the 1976 version of "Carrie" and I fell in love instantly. I've recently watched "The Shining" with Jack Nicholson, and it was a decent movie. However some parts caused my heart to pang at best. Currently I am hooked on the TV series "Under the Dome", and my family is too.

I've began collecting the classic Stephen King books recently--"Cujo", "Carrie", "It", "Pet Sematary", "The Shining" and the latest book being "Under the Dome". All of which I have yet to read due to my slow reading habits, but hey, I'm a third of the way through "Sherlock Holmes: the Complete Novels and Stories volume I" ! One of my goals in collecting his books now is to begin collecting "the Dark Tower" series that I've heard great reviews on and his recent release "Doctor Sleep". If only my money could afford a bigger bookcase.

Despite my liking to Stephen King, I'm not actually one for horror/thriller themed things. However, give me fantasy stories with dragons, elves and fairies and you've got me hooked! Give me an adventure like in Michael Scott's "The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel" series, and I'm there.
Tolkien? Say no more.

As for my writing career, so far I have four stories in the works, a sci-fi, a mystery/thriller, a fantasy and an action/romance.
