Another update from Spidey. Still no power, her neighbor works for power co. and says not tonight. Maybe in morning.

She is good, just frustrated. Internet is spotty even when using cell data so she is feeling out of touch. But she and daughter ok, critters all ok too. :encouragement:
...bless you cat for being her touchstone....

The map looks like this is going to hit you too. Can you please check in so we know you are okay?

I'm good . . .been driving around in empty streets. It's pretty cool to not have to stop at traffic lights. Me and mine are good. Scary and I'm blessed 'cause I've not had to go through what the Texas and other people have had to go through with the floods. I can deal with a power failure but flooding would be harder.

Spideyman . . .you good? I hope so . . .I can't hang around here much . . .it's become too social media for me.

My internet and TV service is down at the house so I'm a little news depleted when I'm home. I came into the office this morning and have been looking at the news and see that Jacksonville has some bad flooding. There's a lot of damage that happened from Irma that was quite a distance from the eye wall winds. The county North of me has considerable damage (much worse than my county) and we were on the other side of the state from the eye wall.

I couldn't sleep Sunday night worrying about y'all with no power and no tv news and sitting in the dark waiting to see what horrors Irma might bring. I don't guess y'all got much sleep either. I'm so glad y'all are safe. Irma has been a real b*tch.

I'm lucky, I have power just no internet or TV. I have power and internet at my office. The weird thing with my TV and internet is that I had it all through the storm and lost it after everything started calming down.

So we had wind and rain through the night, and I think the neighbor's trash can blew down the street. Only about 1,700 people lost power in the county. I'm on the same grid as the hospital and university, so we didn't even flicker. School is on a 2 hour delay, and we'll have some severe wind and rain today, but it should be over after that. Now, I know it doesn't seem like much compared to what my friends in Florida have just gone through, but I'm not sure if you realize how far in the NC mountains I am....hurricanes rarely make themselves known here, and Irma was at most a tropical storm when she arrived, and we feel the effects. That was one powerful storm.
Continuing well wishes for all in FL, GA, SC, and NC ♥

Has Maddie checked in?

POWER !! 33 hours . Did lose all the fridge and freezer(big one too). Never thought so thankful for AC- poor critters yesterday with battery pans ( I'm taking up stock in battery companies!). Have to get out and see what is open. Schools in area closed till Monday. Still over 100 thousand without power in my county alone.

Thank you for all the prayers and vibes. I'll ck back once I see what is what and what is left of this part of FL. LOve and green lights

Glad you are safe, Sunny!! TMy mom is in the SW corner of VA and she was expecting 40mph winds. Haven't heard from her yet, and I'm assuming her power is out.

I don't think Maddie has been on since Sunday. Continued good vibes to all affected by the storm. (((All in need or not)))

I wasn't sure there was any news that could overtake the non-stop, relentless Trump coverage. But I guess a hurricane did the trick. I can appreciate the benefits of notifying people of a pending hurricane but the over-the-top coverage of these hurricanes has reached absurd proportions. It's non-stop for days when there is no real news to report. Endless shots of reporters standing outside telling people that it is dangerous and stupid to be outside (just like them). They desperately look for any sign of damage or a puddle of water for a good camera shot. A form of fear mongering for ratings turning disasters into reality entertainment. Geraldo Rivera was the king of this type of news back in the day. Anderson Cooper is now the grim reaper visiting the sight of every disaster.
