Scary and I'm blessed 'cause I've not had to go through what the Texas and other people have had to go through with the floods. I can deal with a power failure but flooding would be harder.

So we had wind and rain through the night, and I think the neighbor's trash can blew down the street. Only about 1,700 people lost power in the county. I'm on the same grid as the hospital and university, so we didn't even flicker. School is on a 2 hour delay, and we'll have some severe wind and rain today, but it should be over after that. Now, I know it doesn't seem like much compared to what my friends in Florida have just gone through, but I'm not sure if you realize how far in the NC mountains I am....hurricanes rarely make themselves known here, and Irma was at most a tropical storm when she arrived, and we feel the effects. That was one powerful storm.

here I am Miss Sunny really glad everyone made it through that safely, as did me and mine. Power is still out in half the county due to trees down and uprooted all over the place. It moved through quicker than expected but the winds caused a lot of property destruction and road hazards, our schools will be closed again tomorrow. I actually saw one of my cousins was on the news because a tree fell into her path as she was driving down a country road causing her to run up on it and the driver behind her got it on camera, she had minor injuries but very shaken up. Prayers for all still affected in its aftermath.

People don't realize that a lot of sign language is facial clues. You have to really emote things. It's not them being funny or silly, it's how they convey different meanings for a sign that may have many meanings.

Yes and he really is wonderful at it especially to convey something that serious and horrific through signs. Expressions amusing at times and at the same time worthy of praise, hopefully good things will come to him as a result.

A question re relief to areas from Irma........ news reports keep saying many of the island have no supplies due to ports, roads, airports not be passable/ usable. My question-- why are not supplies being air lifted and dropped into these areas??? The storm winds have passed, so why are not choppers bringing in supplies? I heard today that this was starting. USS Abraham Lincoln is off the coast and sending in supplies that way. Hope they get them to all that need them. Continued prayers for all in need!

He just had time to relay a list of people for her to call to let other folks know their Key West folks are okay. If that makes any sense.

Cell phone service in the keys is almost non existent. News crews are allowing use of their satellite so people who stayed can contact others they are ok. The list of names was his way to touch base with as many as possible.
