(In French ironie du sort.)" - from the Wikipedia link... this definition actually validates Alanis Morissette's lyrics.... you overcome your fear of flight, you expect to have the flight.... not to have it crash in the way you always feared... rain on your wedding day mocks the promise of marital bliss... a free ticket when you've already paid mocks your hopes that things will work in your favor.. so Alanis has gotten a lot of flak over the years for her interpretation of irony, but this definition at least, fits her song to a 'tee' ....
