Nah. Better to move on than rewrite a version of the same story over and over. Using Lord Tyrion 's example, Harris screwed up a decent series when he gave us Hannibal Lector as lead villain in two consecutive books after he was used to great effect in two previous books. He might have gotten away with Hannibal (arguably--it falls apart at the end, IMHO), but Hannibal Rising was stretching a single conceit beyond its limits. Yeah, I know that a lot of writers do series about a single character, but 1) they're usually a protagonist who is basically good (or at least we can root for them) and 2) they tend to start suckage after a couple-three of books that gets progressively worse with each sequel. Sometimes they can pull out a winner (or maybe just get their literary head above water) in a last book, but not always. I might be disappointed if Brady is in this one at all.

Interesting discussion. I think I side on not having the previous villain in this one; however, when the third book closes out the series, he should be dealt with in that tome, it's almost obligatory (maybe more than almost). The premise for this one, too, is excellent.

An aside: Skimom, on Hannibal -- what I disliked about the character progression is the author's insistence on giving the serial killer a motive and a justification for his indiscretions, as if we are supposed to feel some sympathy. I also didn't care for how he sort of turned into a superhero. I do have to say, though, the current TV series is one of the best shows I have ever watched, and it really isn't my type of show, either (i.e., it focuses on style and cinematography over plot, although there is obviously a plot, the kind I avoid usually -- Gothic soap-opera type).
