    Good evening.

    I beg your pardon.

I not understand the above part of your post. (BOLD/ITALICIZED) Would you be so kind and elucidate?

    Peace.

Not so much want to but compelled to. I've learned a lot on this board and wouldn't expect to see this thread... I was in therapy for quite a while before this subject was even broached. Well said, Sigmund and others. I'm glad to see most responses are overwhelmingly for the victim, and a little amused that there will always be some people who are like, "Who thinks of this stuff?" It's a dark world out there.

The question is whether or not it's rape in the first place. And who are you quoting above, and can you reword that question, please. It makes no sense to me.

Put me down as lost on what that meant, as well.

Though I do agree that rape is an act of violence and has nothing to do with sex.

According to Atticus Finch, rape is sexual intercourse by force and without consent.

Sounds good to me. If it's against consent, and it's rape.

Because we're complex and all kinds of scenarios develop, we've expanded that to include actions by the perpetrator calculated to remove capacity for consent, such as using drugs and/or alcohol. If you remove their capacity for consent, it's still against consent, therefore rape.

I know there are people who have rape fantasies. If they participate in a faux-rape scenario, then they're giving consent. That wouldn't count.

Please note that the comments above are gender-neutral.

What a HORRible question! Of course it is. Rape is always rape. There is noway around it like saying she liked it or she was aroused or anything stupid like that. Anyone trying a defense like that should be threown out of court. Not to speak of the disgusting arguments i,ve heard sometimes "She asked for it dressing like that" and similar utterances by some braindead animal disguised as men.

Maybe you should tell a large number of the current crop of politicians that. They didn't even know it was rape if you got pregnant and thought true rape preVENTS you from getting impregnated.
I kept wishing someone would lead them back to their caves, especially Todd Akin.

This is Akin's statement, which was a partial explanation of his stance on abortion...

“It seems to me, from what I understand from doctors, that’s really rare,” Mr. Akin said of pregnancies from rape. “If it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down. But let’s assume that maybe that didn’t work or something: I think there should be some punishment, but the punishment ought to be of the rapist, and not attacking the child.”

I personally don't have a problem with his use of the term "legitimate rape" because it was obviously just an idiotically bad choice of words. He didn't mean that he believes some rapes are okay. On the other hand, his statement that a woman is automatically disinclined to become pregnant via rape because of some kind of built-in shut-down feature needed to be followed up by scientific evidence, of which of course there is none. That's what I personally thought astounding.

Hi Siggy... Hope you and your lovely son are doing well.

Reading through this thread has been very interesting. Of course, rape is rape.

And what Frank said about the politician .. I don't have a built-in-shutdown feature from getting pregnant.
Or maybe it is turned on, because I never could have children
Maybe this guy can tell me about the other features I have - and have not had the chance to use.

I wonder which doctors he thought ever said that.

I mean... certainly there will be times/circumstances where it is more difficult for fertilisation to occur--but it certainly wouldn't be a conscious effort/decision made by the female body, because it thinks it's under attack, which is what it sounds like this politician is intimating.

It just sounds to me like he imagines this, and imagines having heard it from doctors instead of realizing he's hallucinating.

I would love an opportunity to sit down with a large number of politicians and tell them exactly what I think on a variety of subjects, but I don't have the 'clout' to do so. There's alot of stupidity that resides in the halls of the political arena. That's all I'm going to say on this subject...

Actually, I don't know of another politician or other kind of person who believes what Akin said. I think he's just a bit off.
