Im not sure anyone has ever talked about this.

Pennywise, IT-- was a vampire of sorts, he caused fear in people [kids] and sucked it out of them as nourishment. He didn't feed on flesh, he feed on a specific emotion, fear. Dandelion did also, but it was laughter instead of fear.
They seldom killed their victim's right away, that would counter productive. A spider with a full belly will 'wrap up' their next victims, and save them for latter . In dandelo's case he 'kept' Patrick like you'd keep a cow to be milked.

IT CAN BE SAID that professional entertainers operate much the same way. They elicit an emotion from people and feed off it. the best examples are Comedians and horror writers . Stephen King is simply the best example of a horror-writer in the world.
in this modern age. But this applies to every writer and every comedian and really, every entertainer.[not just King]

It can be said that 'Stephen King' is the REAL LIFE Pennywise because he causes fear in people and feeds off it.
He turns our fear into dollar bills. He is Pennywises IRL. I have ALWAYS wondered if he created IT-Pennywise with this idea in mind. I wonder if he created IT with himself in mind .
[ this is not a criticism at all, not in the least, and remember , I am Kings biggest fan]

I am listing to the book right now. To me I think it different in a way. Where a writer creates a world to share to draw you in to show you this out there..this is real. This what I see everyday and you can see it to if you dare take the first step and come with me...you can be part twisted magic. Where Pennywise thinks your tasty he so not willing to share.

I think the main difference between SK and Pennywise's are the intentions when it comes to causing fear. SK gets the fear out of himself by putting it on the page, and we enjoy sharing in that. It's not like he really gets off on the act of scaring us (although he does occasionally relish the boogeyman role for laughs). What keeps him coming back is the urge to write it out of himself. The fact that it succeeded in providing him a living, and causing a wide audience to be scared, is really just a byproduct.

Whereas Pennywise is literally planting the seeds of fear and harvesting it purely to consume fear as a commodity and nourishment. It's not happening by accident, his every action is premeditated to destroy and consume.

i agree with everything written above. I dont think King relished the fear he caused,
i dont think he even really like his role... May'hap the entity IT was created out of a tiny
bit of guilt and/or self loathing.

also...400,000 million [so they say]
