Good book. Go in with an open mind and let the story roll on.
I had an extra copy and gave it away to someone for their birthday - I hope he reads it!

(it seems that at the Value Village where I buy my used books there are always copies of the Tommyknockers on the shelves).*

*and hard cover first editions, too, for that matter!

I liked Tommyknockers when I first read it way back when (the late 80s?).

I plan my second reread (my first was On Writing) to be Lisey's Story, and my third to be Tommyknockers. Tommyknockers not because I didn't like it or get, but because it was so enjoyably bizarre.
Maybe that is why I liked it - I was always a bit 'different' so to speak - maybe that is why you like it, too!

Did you see what I did there? I called you a 'weirdo, but in a nice way! :p

Nice. Although, I think, the move is great, I'm siding with Mr. King's opinion on it. Jack Nicholson was not the best choice for the role as he looks like a basket case from the get go, while Jack Torrance's descent into madness was gradual.
Yes - he was not impressed with the film adaptation and I feel he was right. The book was quite different from what ended up on the screen.

Just finished the book this past weekend and I can't say that I absolutely loved it. I know, Mr. King was dealing with his own issues at the time and it shows in the book. Some sections of the book read like they were written by a drunk. I hope Mr. King is not offended by that statement if he happens to stumble upon it.
