1834. The Dally's(my mother's maiden name) left Taunton, Somerset, England, for a new life in Australia. They went to Launceston, Tasmania. They were of Irish-English stock. Why did they leave? I heard that they were hard-arses. I want pictures.

My uncle traced the line back to the Revolutionary War. He sent it to me. I'm sure I've got it somewhere. Just never looked.
It was of interest to him, so there was a point for him to look it up. It's not of interest to me, so there's no point in me looking. He took pride in his lineage because he felt kinship. I don't because I limit my pride to what I'm at least partly responsible for. Just different views, he and I.

It's very interesting to me.
I think because (most) Americans are a hodgepodge of nationalities, and sometimes races, there's an innate desire to know where we come from, especially if there's no family lore about origins.

I know that there would be just a lot of nuts in that tree. I had a friend that traced her family tree and it was interesting.
