I love NYC! Except, as noted above, the Yankees. Having lived in the NY/ NJ metropolitan area for a good part of my youth I always look forward to going back. I have walked across the GWB a few times and saw some folks doing just that on Saturday. Good times. The $13 toll was a bit of a shock. I should have taken the Palisades up to the Tappan Zee and crossed there for the bargain price of $5.
Fair enough. It's just that the more I read this thread the more I kept feeling the hate from a few people. Thanks for clarifying!

No. It was sheer stupidity.
I needed to stop at a restroom, and I figured I would find the first gas station in West Memphis on the other side of the Mississippi.
So I crossed the river. If you've never crossed it from TN to AR, it's w-i-d-e. It takes longer than expected.
I took the very next exit....only to discover that it's an access road...and that the only exit to the highway was one that had me going on I-40 East: back across the river.
So I crossed the Mississippi a second time, turned around in a riverfront park parking lot in Memphis....
...and crossed the Mississippi a freakin' third time.
Twenty minutes elapsed from the time that I originally crossed the river to the time that I actually pulled into a gas station to use the restroom.
:hammer::grumpy::facepalm_smiley:
My mother laughed for days when I told her.
At least the river crossing was free.

LOL. I dare you to do sales taxes for NY state for one year. Almost 70 different rates in different jurisdictions and different rates on clothing & footwear from other sales items, and different rules for other services and some goods and even on purchases. Then come back to me and tell me how wonderful NY is. ;)

You got me there. But I’ll see your retail advertising and raise you NY Workers Compensation and Disability insurance and throw in trying to do business with NYC government for good measure. :)
