From Duma Key...more a passage than a quote, but I love it for its feelings of frustration and anger...it's funny and sad at the same time.

“Bring the friend,” I said. “Sit in the friend.”

“What do you mean, Edgar?” she asked.

“The friend, the buddy!” I shouted. “Bring over the f*cking pal, you dump b*tch!” My head was killing me and she was starting to cry. I hated her for that. She had no business crying, because she wasn’t the one in the cage, looking at everything through a red blur. She wasn’t the monkey in the cage. And then it came to me. “Bring over the chum and sick down!” It was the closest my rattled, f*cked-up brain could come to chair.

I liked this from Mr. Mercedes:

"Shortly before five A.M., Augie roused from his own half-doze, stamped his feet to wake them up, and realized an unpleasant iron light can crept into the air. It was the furthest thing in the world from the rosy-fingered dawn of poetry and old Technicolor movies; this was an anti-dawn, damp and pale as the cheek of a day old corpse."

(I liked that last part - the final sentence fragment after the semi-colon)
