What's your favorite Elvis song? (Mine is Burning Love)

What were you doing when you first heard of his death?
I was 8 years old, sick with a stomach virus, isolated from the rest of the family in the guest room. I had puked Doritos out of my nose earlier that day, and all that was on TV was the news about Elvis.

Well, my favorite has always been In the Ghetto, but people make fun of it.

I was with my girl pack searching for a kegger when the news came on the radio.
Yeah 'In The Ghetto', that and 'Love Me Tender', but then I dig the whole soundtrack from 'King Creole, hmm and 'Jailhouse Rock', oh oh oh, but there's also......:encouragement:
DJ if you'da found your way to one of my keggers, you'd have definitely heard some Elvis, my pals and I would sing along with him.

I was on the phone talkin' to a pal when somebody told him, then he told me, and we cried...that's probably when we planned our next big blow out.
Our Elvis party was epic, took like three basements, couple/three backyards, a county park softball field, and an old wooden stone engravers shop set back in city scrub woods next to a cemetary, and the cemetary, couldn't tell ya how many kegs, lasted all weekend, I think I did too, least I don't remember passin' out:rolleyes:
We celebrated some Elvis is what I'm sayin', even rocked to his Christmas and gospel tunes.
Yeah my pals and me, we all loved 'The King of Rock and Roll'!..and keggers:biggrin2:

The actual news, I must have heard on the CBS Evening News which we watched nightly from the day we got a TV up until Cronkite's retirement. That's not what made the impression, but an incident shortly afterwards. I was standing in a swimming hole facing my friend, looking downstream as she looked upstream. We were just discussing how sad Elvis' demise was (for some reason the only names ending in "s" which don't get a possessive "s" are Elvis and Jesus...mine not to question why...) when my friend pointed behind me and emitted a bloodcurdling scream. I started to turn, expecting to see the spirit of Elvis, when a huge snake slid downstream, brushing past my hand. Now, that made an impression! :icon_eek: :nightmare:

Too many to pick one! Maybe... I Can't Help Falling In Love With You? I agree with PITH, though--the King Creole soundtrack kicks butt (Crawfish, Trouble, so many other good ones). My grandma & mom were huge fans, so I've heard everything a jillion times (I reportedly told my mom I was going to marry Elvis when I was 2--lol). He had mad vocal skills, many times wasted on pop pap that The Colonel had him singing. Elvis should have been a blues singer, with a side of gospel.

I was 10 when he died. I remember my dad coming home from work and telling my mom--he'd heard it on the radio on the way home from work--and she refused to believe him until she saw it for herself on the news. Then she cried.

That's just about my favorite picture of him. These are in the running, too:

Was in boot. No radio, no phones, no contact with the outside world save what we could see from the windows of our third floor windows. Mail call. Someone sitting on the...deck...yeesh, floor...open letter in his hands, Hey! Elvis died! What! I don't recall if details were provided in the letter. Favorite song? He had a pile of them, hey? Hunka hunka burnin' love! I'm allatime singing that one to my wife...she tolerates me. Here I am, your hunka hunka burnin love! With lyrics like that, who needs to be in tune? :)
