In your mirror.
Good evening.

I was sitting here and thinking, I have been so blessed.

It was *little things* that touched my heart and I will remember forever.

When I was 4/5 years old, I got to spend Saturday night with my Tia Chepa. (She was the Elder of my family.) Mass was at 5:00am. Sunday morning so she would gently wake me up saying my name. It was cold and she would warm up my clothes by holding them to the heater and help me get dressed in warm, toasty clothes. Cool, huh?

I fought tooth and nail my hysterectomy. Alas, I had to have an emergency hysterectomy because I was hemorrhaging. Bummer. When I returned to work, a co-worker/friend who knew I was bent out shape about the operation, Becky did a double take when she saw me and said, "Sig! I didn't recognize you without your uterus!" I freaking cracked up! She totally put things in perspective for me and I was suddenly okay. :blues:

It's the little things.

What are some of your little things?

Peace.

So many little things. When you grew up like I did, it's the little things that count. Finally getting to know my dad at the age of 11. Meeting his dad (my Grandpa). My Grandpa was the best person I have yet to meet. Having food. Having warmth. Sometimes those things were hard to come by. My small success in life (house, car, etc). Trying to help out other people who need it.

Tons of little things. If your on the lookout for "big things" you might be disappointed.

My grandparents. While they wouldn't be considered "little things" in my life, they were a huge part of it. Both gone now but the memories of them make for some of the best little things. Riding on the lawnmower with my grandfather, always having waaaay too much food on the plate courtesy of my grandmother, all the great things grandparents do and that you take for granted when you're a kid.

Sitting down in the afternoon with a good cup of tea after spending all morning doing chores.

Coming into the warm house after being outside in the cold and smelling supper cooking.

Hearing a well-turned phrase that delights your ears and makes you feel as you've just been given a little gift.

In the morning, the first cup of coffee, if I have coffee that day.

In the evening, the first sip of scotch, if I have scotch that night.

Driving a car that's fun to drive.

Sitting hip to hip with Grandma at home.

Hugs from grandkids.

Yes, showers. The best innovation for Western society in the last century.
