You must live in one dangerous drunken state. Here in Pennsylvania there were 944,113 hunting licenses sold in 2014, and there were 29 accidental shootings (with only one fatality). The vast majority of those accidents involved the hunter being in the line of fire, and the accidental discharge of a weapon. A person being shot in mistake for game accounted for 6 incidents, and none of the accidents were reported to have involved alcohol. In Pennsylvania, hunting is statistically one of the safest pastimes you can do outdoors. More injuries, per capita, are sustained in fishing, golfing, cheerleading, volleyball, bicycle riding, soccer and tackle football. Those cheerleaders always scared me.
This is good information. Thanx. My recollection of trips through Pennsylvania is that the deer have more to fear from drivers than hunters, but you've no doubt got statistics to disprove that, too.

I've got no statistics, but from talking to a friend who is the top Game Warden in the next county over, and from my own personal experience, I would tend to agree with you.This is good information. Happens all the time (and they are related). Luckily archaeologisyts seldom have to bother with fossilized remains (for me that is). But we Archaeologists can kick ass too!!!!
