I don't know that I've ever read a story more like M.R. James than this one. If it was an intentional homage, then well done. If not, then it sure seems like one.

A little like M. R. James. I am in The Jolly Corner on this one. Seriously, it reminded me of the format of many Victorian novels...that I cherish. I love the letters...a bit like Dracula and others like it.

Yes. It was similar to the format of Dracula. And many others. As much as I enjoy Henry James and his short stories, I've not read The Jolly Corner. I'll have to track that down.

I had these writers confused again...drat! Sorta like Manet and Monet. Henry James lived in Lamb House...he was more into feelings. M. R. James was more into ghostly happening.

I just started reading Night Shift and I love it, but I'm wondering when Jerusalem's lot was written. Was it before Salem's Lot and just not published until afterwards or was it written to compliment the novel?
