These last few years she was getting really vulgar too. Crass. But, she has brought me many laughs also.

I know I'm ridiculously optimistic but I hope she pulls through, sits up and makes some wisecrack about wanting a facial.

I liked her joke about childbirth "Don't wake me up until the hairdresser shows!"
If she does pull through, I'm sure she'll have plenty to say about the whole experience!
...routine outpatient vocal chord procedure, went into cardiac & respiratory arrest...after arriving at the hospital, plan of care was determined to be placing her in a medically induced coma to allow healing, but her condition worsened-the biggest concern I see right now, is whether her body will voluntarily breathe-once they attempt a wean off the ventilator...
I loved the can (insurance?) commercial she did and says something about her face. She certainly could make fun of herself!

As a brit, I have not had too much exposure to her, I have seen her on a few comedy panel shows over here, she was quite funny, used the self mocking line of gags and the "I can rip on Jews because I'm a Jew" thing a bit too much, but she was quite good, especially for a woman in her 70s (then) and to be still going like she was at 81 is quite amazing.
I hope she pulls through, but a heart attack during surgery at 81....it sounds grim.

I really hope she pulls through. I'm no expert when it comes to things like this, so does anyone know if she is likely to suffer any permanent damage if she does wake up?
They're wondering about that. If she'll be a veg or stuck in a wheelchair.

I liked her in small doses. I hope she makes a good recovery.
...it's all dependant on whether she handles the extubation and breathes on her own-and further, if there should be any physical/mental impairment-temporrary or prolonged...much is riding on how systemically strong she is...

....and the longer she remains on, the less likely she'll ever be able to be taken off and be a human being again-if, as I suspect-the damage wrought on her body by this incident is more profound then anyone is letting on-then Melissa will be faced with a heart-wrending decision...
And the thing is.. I don't know why I am so so concerned. She is awesome. I am too young to appreciate.
