Just announced that the actor who played Omar on The Wire will be Leonard on the TV series (for Sundance Channel) based on the Hap and Leonard books.
Oh wow! I had no idea they were going to do a show based on these books! I bet (and hope) that Joe is excited about it!! I love these novels and stories!!!

I of course, like many, was first introduced to his work through the movie adaptation of Bubba Ho-Tep. He's also very active on his Facebook page and responds graciously if he can even though he receives many posts....

He is a wonderful storyteller in person, too. The first time I met him, he came to a writing conference in my community and, instead of reading, he just sat there and told tall tales. Hilarious. The opening section of Two Bear Mambo is one of the funniest things I've ever read. I've crossed paths with him a number of times over the years, and it's always a delight. His daughter is a fine country singer, too.

Bev Vincent... no wonder I keep seeing a Lansdale who's a country singer popping up under his updates!

kingricefan, I finally am getting to read one of his latest works, The Thicket, as shookme has mentioned...
