I was interested in the casting of the movies for The Stand and discovered this site! Exciting! Glad to join in.

My only suggestion for an actor in these movies would be for the character of Randall Flagg. I think British actor Jon Campling would be great. He's done lots of horror and unique characters in the British community and has the perfect image and skills to really pull off the role. He's a serious pro and I think he would be interested in the part.

I just read the intro to the uncut version of The Stand today, and Stephen King (at that time) thought Robert Duvall would make a good Flagg. (of course he is much older now so that would not fly!)

Welcome to the SKMB :joyous:

Jon Campling is in his mid- to late-40's and has a really unique image. Check him out at the IMBd site. He also is in a just-released British movie "The Herd" as well as "Sleeping Dogs." For scifi folks, he's part of a self-financed start-up web series called Kosmos that is trying to raise $30,000 to finance it on Kickstart. (I'll let you investigate all this yourselves. I am not anyone's agent and won't get anything out of this except a chance to watch good shows once they get going.) He's also a model and professional photographer, and has his own Twitter account. [Just watching some clips of his work online is fun. Enjoy!]

I agree that Duvall is too old for the part. And he doesn't have the ability to suspend belief and take viewers into the realm needed for this type of part. He's a wonderful actor and can pull off really nasty roles, but I've never seen him like I mentioned. Hope that made sense.

Oh sure - no problem - I was just making conversation and don't want to debate the subject. I have never heard of Jon Campling but I'll have to check him out :encouragement:

I was investigating other actors and stumbled upon Jon by accident. So I did some checking. Was pleasantly surprised. He really can bring a malevolence to roles that need it. Creepy in subtle ways. It's his niche in acting, but can do lots more. Just want to get Jon a role that he can really do well and give us audience members something to enjoy repeatedly.
