Just got off the phone with Regina...........

Regina is my best friend and also the widow of my friend Bill who died during Christmas with cancer. Anyway, Regina went to work today. Just an ordinary day....but. This guy from her ward...which is Psych...managed to find a pair of scissors in Triage in the emerge room. The room was full of patients. He started chasing folks. Two cops happened to be in the building and came to help. The guy chased him with the raised scissors and one shot him between the eyes. Patients were splashed with blood, including a nine year old boy who saw this happen. Anyway, right after this someone phones in a bomb threat. Then a swat team arrives. HAVE MERCY. Regina finally got home along with a bunch of her Doc friends. They were drinking it up and trying to calm down. Regina had to call me and tell me so that she can finally settle down and try to get some sleep.

How horrifying for everyone involved, but especially that poor little boy. Prayers for all.

Regina is very worried about the little boy. The cop cannot stop crying after shooting this man. They had him with docs for two hours trying to calm him down. The nurse who gave the man the scissors is totally destroyed. She is a very kind good person who was doing training as a new employee. The man asked her to help him fix something on his colosymy....not the right spelling...bag. He grabbed the scissors and took off. None of this is good. Regina has had a very bad year.

Thanks darlink. The triage nurses are very afraid for the safety there. They have no protective glass around them and security is zilch. The Hospital board cannot ignore this after this happened yesterday. Emerge was full of patients. This is not gonna be shoved under the carpet.

...this was obviously a poorly designed facility...security for all should be paramount there, just as it is at my prison....
