Howdy,

New to these boards, and just moved to Sarasota FL, on the Eastern side of the Little Sarasota Bay. Me, my wife and adorable 3-year old daughter moved here for my wife's new job (I married well!).

And I'm an aspiring author. Just finished the first draft of sci-fi/fantasy adventure novel. While waiting on a few people to read it, I'm working on a couple short stories. (No I won't ask Mr. King to read them because I know he can't do that).

I've heard Mr. King lives in Sarasota. Could I buy you coffee? Dinner? Also, I'm trying to find a tennis partner because our condo complex has tennis courts.

What, think I'm not serious? All he has to do is say "No." :) Private message me.

The rest of you are invited to make fun of me if you want (but you know you would be doing the same thing ;)).

Thanks!

Welcome Jared! I'm sorry, Stephen won't be able to do any of that with you as he will be spending his available time with me braiding each other's hair and filing our callouses. It's a full day.;;D

haha. Well, to each his own. (though i'm betting he does drink coffee too.....)

To make the tennis thing sound more attractive: the condos are gated - there's an actual guard at the gate, so nobody can get in without permission. And it's mostly retirees living here, so they've probably never heard of him. :)

Actually, this is the real part of the deal: Once my book gets published then we can hang out as peers. You know, the cool people.

I cannot picture Stephen King in tennis whites but who knows? Maybe he enjoys the game?

Welcome to the SKMB and enjoy the lovely weather down there :butterfly:

The retirees have not heard of him? Hmmmm :hmm: Mr. King was born in 1947 and has been writing since the sixties (popularity started in the 70s) so I am guess a few of them have heard of his work - how old do you have to be to be retired anyway (65 or so?)

Well you got me there. Maybe they have heard of him. But my point was that he probably wouldn't get mobbed by fans there.

TEA??? I draw the line there. I won't buy him tea. ;) (They do have tea at Starbucks...just sayin')

Been there done that. Trust me, you don't want to be seen in the dives he likes. And then he looks at you like you're crazy for asking him if he's actually eaten live chickens, is morbid of razors, and et raw meat. He's no fun, trust me.

Oh yes - nothing like a delicious cup of hot tea, made properly

(but I am Canadian with a Mom who came from Scotland so that is what we grew up with). It is somehow more satisfying than coffee, especially if I do not feel well.
