Like others have already said- start over at the beginning. You'll be amazed at what you'll discover the second time around. And the third time.....and the fourth....etc. I've taken the journey 5 1/2 times now (stopped after book 4 as my TBR pile was getting out of hand) and each time I find something new.

Welcome. Have you been to this area of the site?

The Dark Tower - The Official Website
Hi everyone. I'm new to the forum. I am about to re-read the Dark Tower books and went to The Dark Tower Official Website to determine the order (it's been a while!) and can't decide whether I should read them in the order they were released or insert The Wind Through the Keyhole between Wizard and Glass and Wolves of the Calla. Suggestions?

As a matter of taste, I liked Keyhole better as dessert. Reading it after I had "finished" the series felt like thumbing through a familiar photo album (if you know what that is) and finding some pages you had missed because they were stuck together. And also as a matter of taste, it's much better as simple story than the last two books in the saga . . . kind of like getting a balloon after a particularly painful trip to the dentist.

Or so it seemed to me.

I like to encourage people not to get too bogged down with "approved sequence" in such matters. Life is rigid enough without imposing it on yourself . . . but then again, I would suspect most people enjoy "structure" more than I do.

Or I'm just an old stick in the mud.

Thank you! That's certainly one way to look at it :) I like that....

Since I read the books as published, TWTTK came after the original journey. To me, that was the perfect order. TWTTK is like going back home for a family reunion. To visit with old friends again and enjoy time around the fireplace telling stories.
The original books are "the journey" unto themselves, TWTTK is the reunion.

Thank you. It's obviously time to take that journey again, since I am having a hard time remembering the whole thing now. I'm going to take the advice here and read them in release order. Thank you, fellow fans!
