If my favourite horror film had to be dethroned, I'm happy The King was responsible. Plus, this film still has to open in other territories including Japan. I'm now betting on a (close to) 0.75 billion global take-home by the end of IT's cinematic run. $600 million at the very least.
I'm hoping it cracks one billion before it finally ends its run at the theaters. Wouldn't that be just great??

If it did that, I know how I'd celebrate. I'd print out a copy of the box office results and every time some noob made a disparaging remark about my love of SK, I'd show it to them along with both my middle fingers. Cause I'm mature like that.

That's the one film I still refuse to watch at night. Monster movies I love. Supernatural horror? Oh man, that's a whole different story. That's why I love Wan's Conjuring films so much.
Saw The Exorcist last night - when I first saw it at the movie theatre I was about 17 or 18 and the guy sitting next to me commented on why did I not jump at the scary parts. I told him "I've already read the book".

Even many years later, it's still a very good movie.

Here's the #1 song that Pennywise listens to:

Finally seen the Movie. I did enjoy it but it wasn't a patch on the book although I never expected it would be. I think we saw too much of Pennywise too soon, he just wasn't as frightening by the end as he was early on.
The kids were excellent though and kept true to the spirit of the book, especially Bev and Ben.
Favourite parts for me were The Apocalyptic Rock Fight, Pennywise dancing, and Ritchie being Ritchie.
A bit of a shame they didn't make more of the history of Derry, The Black Spot was barely mentioned and I don't think the Bradley Gang was at all but they only had a couple of hours. I think the smoke hole visions would have added to the film as well had they shown that.

I know, I know, you're all probably fed-up of me posting about this film. However... Box Office Mojo estimates that this may very well end up reclaming the number 1 position this weekend. If that really happens, I would love to see the statistics on how many films have actually done that. Kill them all, Pennywise!!! (sorry)

Your post above for some reason reminded me of this hilarious little incident a few years back. A buddy and I were going to hang out and as we're leaving his house, his wife tells us "Have a nice time." He turns around and says "Don't tell me what to do." I nearly frikking passed out from laughing. The wife...not so much.
If I was the wife I'd probably still be laughing  that was hilarious!

We watched the original IT last night. I think the last time was when it was first on tv.

Today DS & I went to see the new IT.

Loved it. Loved everything about IT.

Yes, there were some changes. There always HAS to be. But nothing major and nothing that I felt was necessary to the story. I cannot wait for Part II and I hope they are as true to it as well.

As I said in my review, one thing I particularly like about this film is them music. I've been listening to the soundtrack today - some really great stuff.

For me, that score was fifty percent of the flick. The cat knew what he was doing.

That creepy, frantic scary music swell down the neck of the sewer tunnel for the title 'It' credits...anybody else get a whiff of Kubrick's ultra frantic Shining score? I did.

Said it before, I'll say It again: we got one. We finally got one, kids.

Just got back from seeing the movie a second time (last time was in October) and it was just as good if not better the second time around - the theatre was quiet and I got to concentrate on the movie this time without distractions.
