Don't you all think it's about time we told Scott that this is his retirement home?

My husband says the same about his mum. He went to visit her the other day, we don't see her very often, but he said all she did was moan about everything from the weather (of course), politicians, state of the world etc. He finds it hard to stay calm with her because she does not like to be contradicted. We of course love her to bits but sometimes feel that she needs to look at the world not so critically.

Well just popped him on his plane home...lucky we made it. Going through security he let off a bunch of alarms, he has metal in his knees so one reason...the other, his teeth, he left them in his pocket...made me laugh so hard and surprisingly he laughed too. Was good, it's gooood:)
I'm glad his visit ended on a fun(ny) moment.

Chelle71 and FlakeNoir -- inner peace for your both. I think the grumps come along with old age mainly because they realize there is a lot of things their "bodies" will no longer allow them to do. The mind is still sharp and the inner desire to do it there, but the body screams out no. They also inwardly begin to realize loss of dependence. That's a tough one. So, they just get grumpy.
You just nailed me, Spidey! That's exactly how I feel these days. I hate not being able to do certain things anymore cause my darned body won't let me!

Just went through this with my husband's parents overnthe holiday. How is his health? Could there be an undiagnosed malady? Loss of hearing and early dimentia/Alzheimer's often manifest themselves in the elderly as "crankiness." I don't want to alarm you, but it is worth thinking about.
His health is fine except for a little arthritis and he is a little deaf. He had a dementia test and he beat the Dr... :)
