One thing worthy of note: I've gotten better prices on cheapo-air than any other site on the web. Including priceline.com. If planned even a few months in advance, tickets can cost much less than we might think.
A quick search of a flight a few months away comes back with results less than 400 bucks. Round trip.
...yep, we will have the agent who set us up for Maine-package the deal for us.....air, room and transportation...

If The Stanley is too expensive for lodging (and I have the feeling it might be), I'm cool with just a visit/tour :) Maybe by pooling funds a dinner in a private room might be arranged, too. The most important thing, IMHO, is to keep it fun and not stressful. We're looking into out of state fishing licenses and hiking opportunities in the area--is that info something other people would like to know?

Just looked at rates for the Stanley. The cheapest room, booked 30 days in advance, is $176/night (sans taxes). We would have to look into getting a group rate, but unless that's quite a bit less it's a bit pricy for me. Checking on the 'ghost tours' right now.

Edit: That's not too bad! Highest price (for non-hotel guests) is $20, but there are senior, military, and AARP discounts that bring it down to $17.

I'm cool with booking a cheap-o flight, renting a car and staying in a group rate room. We'd all have to do the latter, though, to get a decent group rate.

Is anybody wanting to call the Stanley to see what they'd give us for a group rate? I'm thinking the earlier, the better. That way we get the number of rooms we'd need, and a decent price.

If you save a dollar a day between now and the 2015 Kon, You could have around $700.00... :cool2:
...and still be about $300 shy, and that's just the air fare. ;;D
If I save a quid, now...I'll be landing in Colorado with a whole £50 spare for accommodation.

Whoops. Forgot about passport renewal. That's about £80. Hm...
