I apologize, staro, for missing this thread, which I guess I missed because you originally posted it the day I left town. The fact that the Dad brought his son to your house knowing how messed up his son is indicates to me that the Dad is not facing reality about things. I really don't know what to say, how to advise. I guess since the squeaky wheel gets the grease maybe you should start squeaking like mad at the authorities, who are the only people who can protect your daughter?

I think even pepper spray is illegal here. Definitely stun guns are. And not sure how long it takes to legally purchase a gun, but right now you are less likely to be allowed to buy one. (Someone buying a gun while fearful is less likely to use it properly.)
Just a guess on my part, but I'm thinking, he knew his son was going to go, probably with a "reason" like, he wanted to apologize. So, rather than just tell his son not to and know his son would ignore him, he took him so that he was there to try to physically stop him. Which he did do.
Sometimes parents have tried everything and cannot get help for their adult children.

I'm not sure what the wait time is, and it's probably different by province.
But my guess is (and it is just a guess) if someone goes in explaining what happened they are likely not going to be approved to obtain a licence. And if they lie and anything shows up on a search, they definitely won't get one.

The truth is most of these guys are cowards which is why they terrorize women and weaker people..not saying they don't sometimes go overboard and really hurt people because things do happen,but the majority get arrested and then obey the order..if the petitioner is serious about,refuses all contact and insists that every violation be enforced and he gets arrested.Self defense is always a serious issue and to be investigated,but also get the police and courts involved and DO NOT slide back and start being friendly with the actor again..seen a lot of these,and you would be surprised how many of these tough guys,when actually having to go into a jail cell alone,start crying..

(Unless you are law enforcement, military or run a weapons range - oh, or if you are a hunter, then forget about acquiring any kind of gun - especially a hand gun!)
I am not saying it is a bad thing - we still have people killed up here with guns, but nothing like what goes on in the States. That is just the way it is.

...it happens with great regularity...big hard grown ass men act like blubbering babies when they don't get their way...even after nearly a decade in correctional health care, I still have to wonder at all the ailments these guys b*tch about...if yer that damn frail and ill, how in the HELL did you manage to commit a crime...

I am okay, and thank you all for your concern and best wishes. I have been ill for a time and stress does not help. We have been not getting any unwanted attention from this jerk but we both signed a restraining order. Keep your fingers crossed. I made Becky promise that the only creatures we take in are stray cats.
