Did anyone watch this? I am especially interested in the men's point of view. I want an honest opinion of this, not what you think is politically correct.

This is a complicated issue. Now I'm just generalizing, but I think women tend to be more accepting of transgender men becoming women. I think this is very confusing for men -- why would a man want to be a women?

Again, this is just my thoughts on it, I have absolutely no idea if that is even true as my opinion is formed by what the media tells me. And as we know, the media isn't always kind or truthful about a group of people and can definitely taint and sway the crowd.

We have a lot of very virile men on this board, so, how do you feel about this decorated Navy Seal being transgender?

My heart is heavy for her. For what she went through, what she's still going through. I feel bad for the people in her life as they are on a journey of acceptance and change too.

Guys and Gals, Thoughts?

Haven't heard of the show, but I've seen how difficult it can be first hand. My daughter's best friend is a transgendered female (I think I have that right: born Christina, goes by Chris now). He has had an incredibly hard time being accepted, but the girls came around eventually (most of them). Boys won't have anything to do with him. Not mean, but won't deal with him at all. He's lonely a lot of the time.

Any type of identity confusion is heart wrenching - transgender issues are unbelievably sad. These people go through so much just to find themselves. Even those who don't agree with their choices should show empathy and compassion for what they have to endure psychologically and physically.

...I just have trouble wrapping my brain around a burly SEAL becoming a burly woman...to each their own, and I have nothing against transgenders-however, it leaves me all kinda meh....

Thanks you guys. I appreciate you looking at the thread and giving a comment.

I agree that women tend to be more accepting. I feel very tender toward transgendered folks. It must be torturous to not feel comfortable about yourself. We all know what it's like to not be accepted by others, but imagine if you couldn't even accept yourself. You're right, most men are so virile, that it's hard for them to understand it.

THanks. It's a really rough life to lead. So it's not a choice, it's who he/she is. Who would purposely put themselves in a world of hate and hurt as a choice?
