Last night, and after much encouragement from board members, I finally watched Saw :) All these years, I was expecting a torture porn crapfest; nope. Wasn't very gory at all, and was actually a pretty intriguing story. I assumed, and you know what that means: I made an ASS out of U and ME. But mostly me :)

Not to hijack, but this is what I've done with sK titles. I now try not to ass myself.

Boyhood (2014) Ethan Hawke , Patricia Arquette, Ellar Coltrane

This isn't a thrill a minute type movie but I found it fascinating. Richard Linklater filmed this over a 12 year period and you watch a kid grow up over the course of the movie. The movie is as much about the changing dynamics of the rest of the family members as it is about the boy. Watching the actors age in this movie is kind of like watching time lapse photography.

Richard Linklater also did the Before Sunrise, Before Sunset and Before Midnight trilogy which spans a 20 year relationship (as well as 20 years for the 3 films) between characters played by Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy.

SpongeBob Squarepants: Sponge Out Of Water 3D - demented hilarity: daft from start to finish. The 3D is really good.
While We're Young - drama masquerading as comedy. Well played, but I found it a bit smug and glum.
Fast And Furious 7 - ridiculous action movie, very entertaining, underwritten by the knowledge of Paul Walker's death.
The Water Diviner - Russell Crowe goes looking for his 3 sons who fell at Gallipoli: always interesting, sometimes moving, lovely to look at.

Ender's Game--I quite liked it. Good special effects, good performances (particularly from Ford and Davis--the rest are kids *shrug*). I did have a sense that a lot had been cut out of the story, whether filmed or not. Made me want to read the book. I rarely think any book needs more than one movie, but in this case I can see this story being cut into two films (to get all the info that needs to be there in). Still, a good movie :)

The Long, Long Trailer - (1953) Lucy & Desi

A funny movie about a newlywed couple that decides to buy a travel trailer. The husband (Desi) works as a civil engineer and must travel to various places around the country so Lucy convinces him that a trailer would be more economical, fun and adventurous than just staying in hotels. The movie is about the various problems they encounter lugging this gigantic trailer around the country. The first half of the movie is amusing but the second half shifts into Lucy mode and is hilarious. The second half of the movie is a lot like I Love Lucy and there's nothing wrong with that.

I think this movie is similar in theme to Mr. Blandings Builds his Dream House or The Money Pit.
