Divergent-decent teen action dystopian film. Departed from the book in confusing ways, but Theo James made it all worth it ;)
Gone Girl-Cleaned up the awful third act of the book. Decent flick. Ben Affleck... good actor, but LORD I don't like him.

He rubs me the wrong way, too. I don't know exactly why. Sometimes I feel his arrogance just leaps from the screen maybe?

YES! That's exactly it! And after the last batch of rumors (and I don't even follow celeb stuff--it's been on my Yahoo home page every day for weeks), I suspect that he's drop acting and stick with directing if the new Batman/Superman movie tanks and takes him out of the action movie genre. To be fair, he's really good at directing, anyway. You'd think he'd have learned from all the other celebs that cheat/leave a spouse for someone much younger: don't chit where you eat, if you rely on women's money to keep your career alive (lol).

Trust me, Superman/Batman ain't gonna tank. There are legions of fans chomping at the bit for this flick. It's success will have nothing to do with Ben Fleck, though. But he'll probabaly think it does, thus ushering in yet another era of Affleck Comicbook action movies. What next? Fleck as Stephen Strange, Fleck as Metamorpho, Fleck as Sub-Mariner; then, in a climax of elevated ego, we'll see Fleck as ALL FOUR members of a the Doom Patrol!

(You've never even heard of those obscure four-color characters, have you? Heh heh)

I have no real beef with Fleck, he's hit and miss, but'll do a decent Batman, cause Zack Snyder will make him so. Zack knows his men in tights. But Fleck...ugh, for some reason he does have that negative aura about him. People seem to really hate him. Hope he keeps his cowl on most of the time.

Of course I've heard of them--comic book nerd here :)

The footage shown at ComiCon tanked, and Man of Steel sucked, so I have little hope for the new movie. We'll see hot happens when it's released (after MAJOR tweaking, I'd wager). Affleck is a decent actor and a good director, but he does have a smarmy con man aura about him.

Sub Mariner should be Aidan Turner, BTW :) He looks quite a bit like Prince Namor.

We shall see, Mamaski...we shall see. Trailer I saw made my nipples hard, anyway.

I didn't think Man Of Steel was too bad. But I've never much cared for Supes. I just wanna watch em beat the tar outta each other. Lotta other people do too.

Bet you didn't like WATCHMEN either...

It was pretty good. They did a nice job taking it from the comic--a lot of shots were direct frames from the book. Jeffrey Dean Morgan is always good, even if the show he's in sucks--lol

The Island. Scarlett Johanssen and Ewan McGregor. Dystopian near future. Started well, and had a decent supporting cast (Steve Buscemi, Sean Bean, Djimon Hounsou, Michael Clarke Duncan), but sort of fell apart at the end. The crashes and battles went on too long, and Scarlett Johanssen is just window dressing. Yeah, I know she's beautiful, but she's better than walking around with either a dopey Barbie smile or a sort of confused, constipated pout. Never Let Me Go did far better with a similar subject (heck, Logan's Run was a close contender, for that matter).

Second that on the comic book nerd! Metamorpho was one of my favourites!

Watchmen is in my Top 5 Books of all time. I liked the movie too, but V for Vendetta is *to die for.*

V For Vendetta was BETTER than the comic, if you ask me. 300 and Sin City were about the same as the comic, IMHO. And I love 30 Days of Night in either form--I've read the book and watched the movie countless times :)

She really is better than that, isn't she?
I don't lay claim to knowing much about her career, but she rocked a little indy movie, 'A Love Song For Bobby Long', I think is the title, with John Travolta kickin' some serious acting butt in that one, too.
It was filmed in New Orleans pre Katrina, and hell she was just a kid then and still just about boosted the whole movie.
Maybe she's just got a bad agent, 'cause as I understand it she's supposed to be fairly savvy and intelligent...on the other hand, I could just as easily misunderstood:biggrin2:
