I watched a movie with Cate Blanchett and Giovanni Rabisi and the ultra cool dude Keanu Reeves. I'd never heard of it before: The Gift. It was good. I have a hard time taking Keanu seriously - though I did enjoy the Matrix. Anyhow - The Gift. Good movie. Much like: What Lies Beneath, Sixth Sense - that kind of movie. I am nixing Showtime now that Penny Dreadful is over, so I'm trying to record a bazillion movies first.

So good, I've watched a few times.

Revenge of the Creature (1955)--found it on YT, not in 3D. Pretty decent sequel! My favorite reaction from LilMan: in tears after an unfortunate GillMan/dog encounter, "I don't blame the Gill Man. He's just another animal trying to protect himself! But how could those people not even look for their dog?! I hope Gill Man gets them. "

Watched "Hannibal" again last night. Could Anthony Hopkins be any creepier? Did he win any awards for his portrayal of Dr. Hannibal Lecter? He sure as hell should have if he didn't. Incredible acting job on his part. Everyone one else in the movie does a good job but Hopkins just steals the movie. Same with SOTL and Red Dragon.

The true story of how the Boston Globe uncovered the massive scandal of child molestation and cover-up within the local Catholic Archdiocese, shaking the entire Catholic Church to its core.

Excellent movie, excellent investigative reporting on a very disgusting subject. (Several times during the movie I wanted to slap someone. :disillusionment:)

I just can't figure out what the church thought it was doing. Not only covering up the crimes but moving these priests around instead of getting rid of them. I can't think of any rational reason for that. Puzzling.

THE PRESTIGE was one of his best. If you notice, the Batman trilogy plays out the formula for a perfect magic trick that is mapped out in The Prestige. :) Nolan is one crafty guy!

I haven't seen that one. I've always meant to see it but it just hasn't happened yet. I need to move it to the top of my movie priority list.

"Gravy" a dark comedy about a trio of psychos terrorizing a mexican restaurant for some reason. Very funny, gory, and bizarre. Not for everyone but if you are not offended by lots of profanity and gore it is enjoyable. Playing on Showtime.

10 Cloverfield Lane.. This movie reminded me why I like John Goodman as an actor. He does so well as a kind of keyed up survivalist type, that you don't know if he is maybe a serial killer,or maybe a hero.. I liked John Goodman in Raising Arizona, The Big Lebowski, and Fallen, he kind of got typecast after all those years playing Roseanne's husband in a sitcom.. anyhow this movie is pretty good most of the way through, it's kind of raises the level of uneasiness all through it. Until it gets to the very end where it seems pretty improbable, too bad, mostly liked this movie there's one big shock that surprised the heck outta me..

SOTL won the 'Big 5' in Oscars. Hopkins and Foster won 'Best Actor/Actress', Demme won for Director, Tally won for Screenplay and TSOL won Best Picture.

Silence of the Lambs scared me. I was pregnant with our oldest when I saw it in 1991. And I had bad dreams most of my pregnancy starring Dr. Lector after that. In my dreams he was always my friend. Horrible dreams. And I was always afraid he'd catch on that I knew what he was. And that was when all the news about Jeffrey Dahmer came out. Freaky. But SOTL was well done for certain. Hopkins is just great.

Oh shout out to Memphis! parts of that were filmed right here at 201 Poplar!

Silence was based on Thomas Harris' book,Red Dragon, which is even better than the movie if you can dig it,give it a read if you get a chance..don't think the sequel movies lived up to the original silence movie or this book..
