This is the only shirt-less Mummy image of Cruise I can find. :dispirited:

Why is he in a white bag?

 skimom2, one again you've outdone yourself. Funny, I've been reading some John Cheever, and just got hold of a DVD of "The Swimmer" (1968). In the film, Burt Lancaster at about 55 looked like he was chiseled out of granite. Please take a gander at his man-cans and rate them for me on a Tom Cruise scale from one to ten. I LOVE this Marvin Hamlish soundtrack. Listen to the opening theme. At about 2:50 it just goes Bam!!!

Lol! Just a matter of biology. Over about 45, we all start to be dragged downward toward Hades, chest first. Fact of life. In a youth obsessed culture like ours, H-wood types are especially punished for being human. Myself, I like a man or woman who is okay with nature doing what nature does. But it doesn't play on American tv/movie screens. That's why a smart man like George Clooney (who is also incredibly fit) doesn't do shirtless anymore, not even in a movie set in Hawaii like The Descendants. And McConaughey wore a vest--no naked chest--on Magic Mike.

Long way around to say that Burt was definitely a beautifully fit man, but still had flat boobs by this point :)

:( So you're issuing mankind sort of a Logan's Run boobal death sentence? After 45 we have to accept that our man-knockers will become unsightly bags of dead tissue? Luckily I saved an ace in the hole. Ricardo Montalban in Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan!!!

Flat huh? Whenever RM flexed, those puppies looked like they were gonna burst right thru the ship! I read in a memoir Walter Koenig wrote about the filming of ST:2 that Montaban was obviously quite proud of his muscular chest and was more than happy to show it off. Of course he was! If Tom Cruise was sporting those things we would not be enjoying this very interesting man-golden winnebagoes thread. (Yes, I said golden winnebagoes!) Now here's some pics of Ricardo with a couple of inappropriately younger women he apparently hyp-MO-tized with his 62 year old rock solid flanks of man-hooter! I wonder how he maintain such miraculous torts? Maybe you have to be Spanish? I'm part Portuguese, do you think that will help?

Watched Nocturnal Animals last night.
Sorry, but the first few minutes was disgusting and far too long.
I had a full plate of nachos in front of me and I had to wait until the images were out of my brain and my stomach settled down before I could enjoy my food.

*snicker!!* Reminds me of a story Newman from Seinfeld told Kramer.

"So, I line up my cold cuts on the couch next to me, but as I’m stacking them up, they keep falling into my foot bath!"

Newman probably needed a bit for his stomach to settle down too.

My oldest son claims that Ricardo Montaban is his father. Not sure how that happened, I must have been passed out.

My Cousin Rachel - beautifully staged suspense romance (Daphne Du Maurier original) - suffers from inadequate resolution
Gifted - Chris Evans, uncle to maths prodigy (the awesome McKenna Grace) in court battle with grandma over what is best for the child
Transformers: The Last Knight - a promising off-the-wall start leads to routine interminable bayhem

What did you think of GIFTED? The trailer looked interesting, and Evans has done good work in several films.

Crimson Peak for the second time. I liked it just as much as I did the first time.

Conjuring 2: it was okay. The freaky nun was the scariest part, at least the first couple of times you see her. The Crooked Man didn't work at all. Looked like Beetlejuice level claymation. The end didn't make a hell of a lot of sense, but whatever. Definitely watchable, at least.

Hulu currently has a Brit movie called The Enfield Haunting, from which Wan clearly "borrowed" a few scenes. I think I liked the BBC (I think) movie better.

We watched The Conjuring 2 this weekend, too. I thought the first one was scarier...yet that freaky nun was in my head all darn night! No nightmares, but her face was right there in my mind's eye every time I woke up.

Those kinds of movies freak me out.
