Watched Red Lights on Netflix. With that stellar cast it should've been much better. Surprising ending, though!
Cillian Murphy was very good-he's never gonna get a role in a rom-com or some other light-hearted movie with eyes like his!! ;;D

I watched The United States of Leland.

According to IMDb :

Tells the story of a young man's experience in a juvenile detention center that touches on the tumultuous changes that befall his family and the community in which he lives.

I enjoyed it very much. It made me laugh and cry. And cry again when I *understood* where Leland was coming from.

I would highly recommend it.

Peace.

Started to (re)watch Sling Blade last night, but was way too tired to finish it. Haven't seen it in years. Will watch the rest tonight. What a little gem of a film! I'm not a big fan of Billy Bob, but he is outstanding in this role!!! (I can do a mean spin on the main character Carl!)

Savages (2012) - an Oliver Stone movie

I enjoyed it but it could have been much better. Narration is a tricky thing in movies. When it doesn't work, it can ruin the movie. Blake Lively delivers the worst narration I can remember. It's not all her fault, she was dealing with some crappy dialog.

Anyway, if you can overlook the terrible narration and the shaky ending, the rest of it is a good, tense flick with some great action scenes. The story is about a couple of guys who are big local weed dealers in California that draw the attention of a Mexican cartel that wants to movie in on their business.

Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979)

This was the first Star Trek movie. The movie has an interesting story but it moves at a snails pace. It takes about an hour to introduce the characters from the old TV show as they drop in on by one. I think 30 minutes could have been chopped out of this and not hurt it. It's good, just slooooow.
