I watched The Great Train Robbery last night. Directed by the author of the book, Michael Crichton. Not a bad adaption. Sean Connery is, well, Sean Connery. It's a bit dated now and has some (sexist) lines in it that make you groan. Pretty good movie, tho!

Context, darling, he made a statement way back in the 1970's about slapping a woman. He didn't win alot of 'friends' after he said it. I've never been a big fan of his anyway...;-D
Yes, I know, but he held firm to it in this clip when asked about it again. So, I'm assuming he still feels that way. Old dog and all.:waaaht:

I know. Consider his age and where he's from. Some ol' dogs just don't want to learn any new tricks. He's old school.
Plus he is Scottish - it seems they are way behind the times in this area. I was over there in 2005 and I thought I was back in the Dark Ages!:evil:

Thor. The more I watch the movie the better I love it! One of the greatest Marvel movies, for sure! This time I showed it to my boyfriend, and I am glad he also liked it very much. And Tom Hiddleston is just perfect, I can't resist saying that;DD

Fury (2014)- I thought this a very well done WWII flick in general. There were a couple of scenes that I thought were questionable, but then again, it's just a movie, lol. Brad Pitt was good in it, as well. Dark, brutal, and gory. What I liked most about this film is that the fighting was shown and done in a Sherman tank, which I thought was very cool.

The only pet peeve I have about this movie and (some WWII films) is that they cast actors who are older, like in their 40s and Brad Pitt, who is in his 50s. Not that there is anything wrong with that, I personally think Brad Pitt is a fine actor and the other actors did a fine job, respectively. Just that the average age of soldiers in WWII were 26 and there were soldiers younger than that, and in their teens. I guess I'm trying to figure out if they had men, like Brad Pitt's age, in the positions of controlling the tanks? I know it's Hollywood, but it wouldn't hurt to be accurate sometimes LOL. I guess I'm just thinking about it too much :a11:

You're absolutely right, most of the men, including officers, were under 40. "Historical" movies drive me nuts with all the inaccuracies.

They can cast these inaccuracies as long as it's a big time movie star. But, what about the women over 40 and the lack of roles out there for them? Makes me mad. I watched a movie the other day and the "normal" couple were about 20 years apart in age-she was around 25 and he was probably at least 45. We're supposed to believe this is the norm? Sorry for the rant and for veering off topic! :a11:

Thanks, skimom2! It drives me nuts, too--you're not the only one!

Okay-it was only a 17 year age difference (I exaggerated by three years ). Ellis's parents in the movie Mud-in real life Ray McKinnon is 17 years older than Sarah Paulson.

OH, right! I didn't even realize those two were that far apart in age! As for being a norm? I personally think that's a big age gap--but to each it's own, I suppose.

Supposedly, Robin Thicke is dating a 19 year old o_O And he's 37! I guess he's over winning Paula back. What a douche. (Sorry to digress!!!!!!)

Exactly my point! Hollywood isn't "normal!" ;-D
