Tom Brown's Schooldays (2005)

This dvd is of a British TV movie based on an 1857 novel by Thomas Hughes. I am not familiar with the novel at all so I can't say how faithful the adaptation is but the movie was excellent.

The description from imdb:
Drama about life at Rugby School in Victorian England. The headmaster is fair but not effective and life is brutal for the young boys because of bullying and it's consequences.

Watched Happy Gilmore for the ?? time-on Netflix. I read it wasn't going to be available to stream after the end of this month (at least for awhile). Needed to see Happy and Bob Barker throw down one more time! ;-D

That's funny Morgan because I came here to say I was watching Funny People with Adam Sandler. It also has Seth Rogen, my Hero of the Day. In it he plays a famous wealthy oversexed comedian who has it all and almost loses it, getting a second chance at loving life again. But it's also a comedy by a comedian about being a comedian. I love those as much as I love books by writers about writers writing about writers writing about writers. ;)

He has something for my every bad day. I can put Happy Gilmore on repeatedly and still keep laughing. I love this scene in Happy Gilmore

I love Mr Deeds, Billy Madison, Punch Drunk Love, Reign Over Me and Fifty First Dates !!! I've loved Adam Sandler my whole entire life.

I haven't seen Eraserhead or Running On Empty. :a11:
Eraserhead is David Lynch's first movie, done when he was a student at the American Film Institute. It's very strange, with haunting images. Running On Empty is a marvelous film with very good acting by every cast member. Phoenix at his best!

I will definitely have to check out Eraserhead. I liked Blue Velvet and Twin Peaks.

We've been watching some older movies lately, some old favorites.

Big, with Tom Hanks
Beetlejuice, Michael Keaton

Also, Guardians of the Universe which I thought was ok, had some cute moments. And The Hunger Games, first time viewing for all of us. Again, just so so for me. (Same opinion of the book.)
