Instead of starting a new thread every time I paint something new, I'll just park each one of 'em here.

This is what I'm working on today. I'm doing a new series of paintings featuring a little girl fashioned after my granddaughter and my beloved Stumpy. Two of my favorite loves.

Today's painting finds the tot lounging in a tree with Stumpy nearby, both blowing bubble gum bubbles, with leaves and blossoms blowing around. It's not done yet, obviously, but man am I having a good time with it.

I'll outline the girl in the actual colors, blonde hair, flesh tones, red shirt, blue shorts, white socks, but the figure will stay in silhouette. I also need to include the bubbles and the blossoms.

If you guys would rather, I'll stop showing the progress shots and only post when it's finished. I like to keep track of progress for future work, and I like seeing other artists' progress, but if it's irritating, I'll just post the final product. just let me know.
I cannot see the images, unfortunately :(

Things like this make me wish I had artistic talent. Or talent of any sort. ;)
Sort of makes me want to grab Becky's art supplies (sadly unused, though she's quite good), but the last time I tried - inspired by Bob Ross, funnily enough, though I never assumed it would be as easy as he made it look - I ended up with plenty of things that looked like nothing on Earth. And then there were the moments where I'd go 'What? There's no black or green in a sunset, Bob...oh, damn it, you're right, that looks great. I guess they are there after all'. Guess I just don't have the eye.
Makes me appreciate the abilities of those who do much more, though. (And I know Lepplady happens to be multi-talented. Which is mildly annoying, actually. :D)

Gave myself a day off after yesterday's flop. I'll be back at it tomorrow. Maybe in Paris, definitely starting a new piece. I just have to remember that not every book is going to be a best seller. Not every movie's going to win an Oscar. Not every painting is going to be a masterpiece. The trick is to get back on the horse if it kicks you off and keep riding.
Wish me luck.

I think I'm over the slump. I've got a picture in my head that won't leave me alone. I don't know if I'll do it justice, but it's a picture in 2 panels. First (left) panel, little kid and cat in the lower right corner, wearing a folded newspaper hat and wielding a wooden sword at a dragon that takes up the rest of the page. Dragon looks fierce, guarding a treasure of jewels and gold. Cat is also wearing a newspaper hat.
Second (right) panel, kid n cat are walking away laden in jewelry, leaving a trail of gold coins, looking very pleased with themselves.

Just dropping by on my way to work. Never mind that I work about three feet to the right of where I'm sitting right now.
Work progresses on Kid n cat: Rar (the dragon painting). I'm extremely satisfied with how the dragon's head is coming out, considering I've never drawn or painted a dragon before, and I free-handed that sucker.
Haven't touched the kid or cat yet. I'm saving them for last. They're in the lower right hand corner, and I don't want to risk messing them up if I drag my arm through. ...I write with my left but paint with my right. Weird, innit?

It's just colors blocked in right now, and the wings are distressingly wonky, but fixable. That's the beauty of oils.
I won't bore you guys with progress shots along the way. I'm taking them, though, and will post them when it's done.
Wish me luck!!
