Greetings and Salutations, fellow King fans!
So about me: I'm an old broad (41) who teaches English. I've been a Stephen King fan since I was in 7th grade. The first thing I ever wrote (aside from homework assignments) was a terrible short story that was heavily influenced by Mr. King: an ancient, horrible demon has been loosed upon the earth, and the only person who knows what it is and how to stop it is one occult-obsessed girl..and she has to find Ozzy Osbourne and convince him to sing the proper songs to put the demon back...LOL, I know it's cheezy, but hey, Metalocalypse did an episode (Dethtroll) almost exactly like it...
I still write - mostly freelance articles, but recently I took a deep breath and decided to try my hand at writing fiction again. And of course, what comes out but horror. Of course, I can't blame it all on Mr. King - the first comix I read as a kid were Tales from the Crypt and Vault of Horror. (BTW, does anyone know of any modern horror comix? I miss reading them!).
A caveat: I'm a big, big fan of his early work, especially his short stories, but his later stuff, not so much. I find almost all the movie adaptations either terrible or, at best, inadequate. The one exception: Christine!!! Damn, that scene where she's on fire, chasing Buddy Repperton, has got to the be baddest-assed scene EVER! But usually I only watch the movies to spot Mr. King in his various cameo roles.
Anyway, I'm hoping to meet other writers, fans, and if the Goddess smiles upon me, perhaps the King himself.

Greetings Old Broad (I just wish I was still 41!) :biggrin2:

Maybe try some of his later works - I found he just got better with age, like a fine wine

I just knew that my nick is appropriate. Damn I'm feeling old now. Just kidding, we are a couple of youngsters in this crowd ;). Welcome!

It's good to read all kinds of literature. Some of the golden advices of the maestro himself. Talking about comics: In July 2009, Dark Horse Comics and New Comic Company LLC released the new Creepy magazine. Creepy (Volume) - Comic Vine
