...from my pea-brained perspective, I vastly prefer the image version-only because the first reminds me too much of a text book or tech manual, no matter what color you choose....a cover with imagery or artwork puts me more in mind of a novel, or something to enjoy....the font size needs brought down and I would eliminate "words" the first time...and just title it "In pursuit of political words & phrases"....no criticism intended darlin'-you asked, and I tried.....good luck with the endeavor!!!!...

Behind you
My thoughts right now - just seeing myself walking through a library. I love that. And just touching the ones that caught me.
And putting them back with care, if not.

Colors get me. Black gets me, and gold. A little picture on the outside binding does not. I have read many a book that I loved just because of that.

Don't get me wrong, I have read many yellow books. Enjoyed them as well. But I knew what I was getting.

Did I go off track?

No - I also preferred the one that was not yellow.

Here is one yellow book I am glad I checked out of the school library:

I usually go the back of the dust cover and read what someone has written about the book. I have a feeling Tery’s book will be slanted to the liberal side. Therefore I think she should have a Conservative author skewer the book. The Left will love it because they like nothing more than making the Right crazy, and some on the Right will read it just to see what is so terrible. (That’s why I watch MSNBC, and visit Salon and the Daily Kos. :))

I have actually edited it it to be as unbiased as possible. The slang portion was harder to do because I like to be snarky. But any examples are as balanced as I can make them. The first part of it it just definitions and explanations of terms like caucus and slush fund and the background of each party. I may have been able to be biased on DK but I want to sell books. I can't afford to alienate any readers.

So you're wrong ;;D

Blue, Tery. The yellow makes it look like a Cliffs Notes and someone might think it is and move on. The blue looks like a book. Also, my kid who is a political science graduate with a minor in public policy and american government says that when it comes to signs that politicians put in yards, the ones who do it in yellow and black are less likely to be voted for. Not always, but I guess he took some class that they discussed the statistics of this.

So, that might also transfer to books too. Blue is more pleasing to the eye.

I just found this thread today.

I also would have voted for bold color instead of an image, while supporting the suggestion to use different fonts.

I see whatever problems I had with the original proposal's fonts and composition were solved in the designer's version.

He/she found a balance of size, space and shape that looks good, and used a color that remains bold but is easier to the eye.

I love the black band with this volume's title in it.

So, money well spent. :D
